Scotland under-21 international Alex Rea left an indelible mark on the heart of the Millwall engine room after being signed by Bruce Rioch from Falkirk for £250,000. His 71 goals out him joint ninth on the club’s list of all-time leading scores. A member of the squad that reached the Division One semi-final’s in 1994 only to be defeat by Derby County. The following season he played a key role in FA Cup wins at Chelsea when he scored in a dramatic penalty shoot-out and Arsenal. Following relegation from Division One in 1996 after scoring 75 goals in 256 games, he was sold to Sunderland for £750,000 winning a First Division title three years later. Wolves paid a seven-figure sum for him, and he was First Division play-off winner in 2003.
