Hi everyone, and welcome back to That UFO Podcast. As always, my name is Andy, and a special reaction show for you. This is a non-spoiler review of Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day. I'm recording this on the 9th of June, 2026. Probably didn't have to tell you the year, but here we are. And I got to go and see the movie at the BFI IMAX in London on the 8th of June last night. Fantastic experience, and I was only there because of all of you watching and listening... allowing me to get the attention, be invited along to something like that by Universal. So thank you so much to all of you. What I'm going to do, and I'm going to upfront tell you, this is a non-spoiler review. I'm also going to release a completely spoiler review because people don't mind it being spoiled.
This one, I'm going to do my very best to keep it really generic and vague. And I've got some questions I put out for last night to sort of go through and answer around it. I am going to promise you to not give away big, big things. but there may be some alluding to direction and stuff like that here. So if you really want nothing at all other than what's in those trailers that you have seen, then don't listen yet. Come back to this once you've watched the movie and tell me if you agree or not, because remember, this is just all my opinion. I am just off the train back home from London. I went, stayed over, came back this morning. I'm incredibly tired, but I want to get this out for everyone so it's fresh to go.
this evening when the embargo gets lifted because I had to sign an NDA and stuff like that as well so this is as non-spoilery as I can get there is going to be at the same time a separate spoiler episode and I've got questions from lots of folks on both sides of things around it so this is non-spoilery but I might allude to a couple of things without giving away the whole kit and caboodle And so in case you had missed it, this has probably been the film event of the last couple of years many of us were waiting for. Now, there is another film in the pipeline with Jeremy Bruckheimer and Joseph Kaczynski. And it's called All the King's Men. Now, that is the movie that David Grush is a consultant on, not Disclosure Day.
I stayed to the end credits of Disclosure Day and couldn't see any names like Grush, Elizondo, people like that. For anyone curious. But Disclosure Day is, and I'm going to read you a quick synopsis here, just to try and do this in a professional movie critic film review type way, is Steven Spielberg's return to the world of UFOs, aliens, and the question that has followed his work for decades from E.T., Close Encounters, right the way through, what are the worlds? What happens if we find out we are not alone? The film imagines a world where hidden truths about non-human intelligence begin to break into the open, not as rumour, not as conspiracy, but as something that can no longer be contained.
Sound familiar? At the centre of it is a global moment of revelation, one that forces governments, ordinary people, scientists, believers and sceptics to confront what disclosure would actually mean. Rather than just being a big alien spectacle, Disclosure Day seems to be asking us a more human question. If the truth was finally proven, would it unite us, terrify us or completely change the way we see ourselves? Spielberg has described the film as being built around his long-standing belief that the UFO question matters, and the official teaser frames it around one simple idea. If someone proved we are not alone, would that frighten you? Really quickly, folks, because I don't think these reviews will be too long because, again, loads of you are going to go see it.
And I don't want to spoil stuff. Like I say, this is the non-spoiler review. I'll do my best here. You've seen from the trailers it centres around Margaret, who is Emily Blunt, who's phenomenal in this, by the way.
