Uh city expected to appeal against verdict issued by independent commission. Sanctions undecided. It's one of those tweets that get less exciting. Uh the more you read it, there's the headliner, then there's the idea of sanctions on decided and process on ongoing. But I mean it is it is news. Uh Neil, this thing's been hanging round for a long time. I've got Neil Accarton Andy King, by the way. Did I say that?
And I'm John Gibbons. Uh almost certainly didn't say that either. Uh but anyway, it's People have been asking for a long time what is happening with this. Um this is something, it looks like city aren't gonna get away with it. I there will be an appeal, but how long that takes, but indications seem to be that that won't necessarily be successful. It looks like there's gonna be some sort of, you know, resolution and it's not gonna favour Manchester City.
Yeah, I think this is the all the way through on this, then that there's the for me, one of the oddities of it all was that it happened in the first place. And when it happened in the first place, I was staggered to be honest with you, and staggered with the breadth of what was of of what was charged against City. And it's more than a hundred and fifteen now as well, of the stuff's been uh being added uh uh after that first press release. And within all of that, the Premier League have just been really, really quiet. And I think It's because it's been exceptionally difficult, exceptionally complicated. Um, and also it's got to be got right. Uh, and there's a wide variety of reasons why it's gotta be got right, but it is you know so seismic around the Premier League, uh, all of this.
So I think remembering all of that up the top, I I think is is important. The the idea that now and it was always gonna be done in stages this that it was the was going to be verdict handed down. I think the order will end up being not least because of the possibility that the punishment could be something as dramatic as expulsion. That they'll be The verdict will be handed down publicly. There'll be a public press release of what the verdict is. There'll be no further commentary whatsoever from anyone from the Premier League. Um that will be publicly that will be, you know, non-existent. And then I think privately there'll be very, very, very little that actually leaks out from the Premier League after that point.
There will probably therefore then have to be an appeal. Once there is an appeal, uh, and the the the process for the appeal will be made public, I suspect, at the same time as the the findings are formally made public. And then only then after the appeal will the sanction, whatever the sanction is, be handed down. I suspect. I suspect. I could be wrong, but I suspect that that will be the case um for this and that will be the order of events um because it is so significant.
