I feel like we've had a lot going on recently. Kind of been all over the place. But we're here. We're together. We're drinking. We're happy. And we have a good episode today. I know. Literally, we... Well, you can't hear my eyes because it's melted. But I made two drinks because mine was so good.
Brad Sutton 0:57
I made two as well. And I got to tell you, listeners, you are going to love what Jules put together.
Unknown 1:03
Like, I think I made a winner.
Brad Sutton 1:05
Yeah. She blew my doors off. That was an awesome cocktail. We got to workshop the name on this here a little bit after the episode. But it's like a white Russian, but it uses root beer.
Juliana McIntosh 1:19
I mean, it's American. Well, there's rum in there. But you know what I mean? It's like it's used in America.
Brad Sutton 1:25
It does use root beer.
Juliana McIntosh 1:26
Yeah, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I love my recipe. I'm super happy. I just had this because I was going online and I was trying to do my research on, okay, root beer cocktails, root beer cocktails. And I wasn't seeing a lot with White Russian, which is surprising to me because I think that it is the perfect body to use root beer with all the flavors going on.
Unknown 1:46
Yeah, you're not wrong.
Juliana McIntosh 1:47
Now, I did want to bring this up, Brad. There were a couple of other recipes I was thinking of doing. Now, there was a popular one, and it's called a root beer Ricky, which is literally like a gin Ricky, but instead of soda water, you do root beer. So it's gin, lime, simple syrup, and then you spritz it with root beer, which I thought was kind of interesting. But people like lime in there, like Coca-Cola. So I could see how that could probably work. There was another cocktail where it was root beer with absinthe, which I was like, oh boy, what if you did a little Fernet? What if you did a little Malort? I was like, okay, we could get weird here.
Unknown 2:24
So I was thinking about that over this episode. Right?
Brad Sutton 2:28
Anything with Fernet, I would toy with root beer right now because it's just root beer, at the end of the day, it's kind of medicinal, not as aggressive as Fernet or some of those other things, but it does have medicinal qualities.
Juliana McIntosh 2:41
Yeah. Think about it. It's a hot day, hot night for that matter. And you want a little Fernet, but the Fernet, like you want it kind of cold and a little more refreshing. I feel like a root beer and Fernet over ice would actually be really nice to have.
Brad Sutton 2:54
I would, you know what? Damn it, I might give that a try actually like tonight. So that's a good idea.
Juliana McIntosh 2:59
Can I hit you with the last one that I almost, almost pulled trigger on?
Brad Sutton 3:05
Lay it on me.
Juliana McIntosh 3:06
I believe it's on Punch, punch.com. A root beer Negroni. Yeah. A root beer Negroni. And they even froth the mix to create this like root beer foam on top with like the CO2 cartridge and everything. Yeah. I mean, that is like expert, expert level. Let me see if I can't find the recipe.
Brad Sutton 3:33
That sounds so good.
Juliana McIntosh 3:35
It's pretty insane. Yeah. It was punch. Punch. And they came out with this root beer Negroni recipe. Negroni recipe. I was like, oh my freaking God.
Brad Sutton 3:46
Oh my God. I love root beer so much. I really do. I'm just a sucker for it. I know it's not everybody's favorite. And so sorry, folks. Root beer is not your jam. This may not be your favorite drink today, but somebody might like it. And I think you should still make it because that's what a good host does.
Juliana McIntosh 3:59
Brad, are you ready? And then we can get into our recipes. But on punchdrink.com, they have a root beer Negroni. one ounce mezcal, one ounce sweet vermouth, a half ounce of ramazzotti, a quarter ounce of Braulio, which is that Digestivo we were talking about, one bar spoon of sarsaparilla syrup, One bar spoon of Bitter Cube root beer bitters and then a drop of saline solution. And then they make a root beer Negroni foam by taking that mix and then just frothing it in a CO2 cartridge and putting that on top.
