I would say the last three. Let's start it wasn't even the post free agency. Because It was the Dubois trade that took up all the air two summers ago or whatever it was. And then it was the Edmondson Geno, even though Janot wasn't assigning um. Although there was some, you know, Fogals in there. But we tend to focus on the negative. And then last summer it was the C C Dumelin, Perry Forsberg, all that stuff, which again Armia Yes. Three out of five, not bad, but w again, this nature of the beast, we're gonna focus on the On the ones that sucked, um, but on this occasion Vardy Hard to point to any suckage. Which is I guess where the positivity will come from here.

And I I realize over and you all probably realize over the last several days that uh Our tone has been very I wouldn't say super well, maybe I would say super positive, but it's it's i it's all a matter of perspective, right? It's it's a matter of like where you're starting from, where the team is at and And what we feel people's expectations should be. And I've I've kind of come to a conclusion. before we kinda go into this. That There's essentially two types of fans at the moment of this team. There is the Blow it all to hell. Just gut everything and you know, give me the next Celebrini, next Bedard, next Dallin, next whoever. Cause that's the only way this team is ever going to become good. And and I I I I I understand where those people are coming from.
It's hard not to, especially when you see the strides that a team like San Jose has made. And And for a fan of that thinking Nothing the Kings did this offseason would would m satisfy them. Because ultimately the type of team that they were that we're gonna end up seeing this coming season is gonna be so far removed from that version of a team. that this is all just delaying the inevitable and They can't stand to see it. Right, like a another near playoff appearance or a potential first round playoff appearance or whatever. None of that. matters to them. unless the team's a true cup contender. They're they're not in the mood for a first round win as as kind of a a moral victory of sorts after five years of losing in the first round.
To them it's it's cupper bust already. And Then that's that's that's where they're at with things. And to them, everything, not just this offseason, but probably a lot of the things towards the end of last season were just a giant waste of time. Like Panarin was a waste of time. Resigning Kempe was a waste of time. You know, like why are we doing those moves? Why haven't we traded Fiala and and and ev all these other people? Like Cutbait. Keep nothing but Byfield Clark and and La Ferriere and a you know, gaggle of randos around them. And just gut this thing and go for a top pick. And if you are of that thinking that a team needs to be built that way Then Then yesterday and the week before that sucked for you because we're nowhere near getting a top five pick.
We're nowhere near being a a lottery team. We're probably a a mushy middle team, near playoff team. On the other hand, you have people who are just kind of like The rebuild is coming. At some point it is coming. It's obvious. Time is undefeated and all all these teams will go through those motions, though go through those cycles. But for the here and now The Kings still have serviceable players and the management for better or worse and the ownership for better or worse has decided. that they're going to keep kicking at the can. And see what happens. And I think if you are of that ilk, I think if you are of of that mentality and you understand that while yes, there is likely a more thorough rebuild coming
