Happy Thursday. Welcome to Couch Talks, our QA episode to the Feeling Things podcast. I'm Amy. And I'm Kat. And we're gonna kick things off with a voicemail. Out of the gate. We've got a voicemail, a DM. And then another voicemail. Okay. That's what you call A couch talk sandwich. A couch talk's voicemail sandwich. Yeah. So let's just out of the gate. This is from Samantha. Here you go.
Hi, I mean Kat. I'm listening to your Tuesday episode. Um, when you guys are talking about the quote, Maybe you didn't get what you wanted. Because you deserve more. kind of reminded me of when I was fresh out of college and I didn't get this job that I really wanted and they actually ended up calling me back and then offering me a job because their offer fell through or something, but already committed to a different job. And you know, I really wanted that other one, but the job I did end up taking 'cause I got an offer. That is how I met my best friend who then introduced me to my student to be husband. We're getting married at the end of September and I'm still with that company. Um, I'm now in senior leadership and I just got a promotion.
And I love my job and I love what I d what I do. So when I heard that quote, maybe you didn't get what you wanted because you deserve more, I immediately always go back to that first job that I wanted. I just wanted to share that little story for others out there who maybe are stuck or feeling discouraged 'cause they didn't get something that they wanted. You'll see the end or the light eventually. You just have to be patient. Thank you
Best story. a question, but it was encouragement based off something we said on a previous episode. And I love that she shared her experience because I just know somebody else listening will appreciate hearing that so much. And based on Uh this week's Feeling Things episode from Tuesday is Samantha, we are so happy for you. She's she's getting married. Mm-hmm.
Yeah, you're the one that gave
us that advice. Kat said that she saw a reminder from an etiquette person like that if a w if a woman gets engaged It's good to reframe it and say, We're so happy for you. I am so happy for you. This is so exciting.
Versus this is congratulations, what an accomplishment. Right.
Kind of thing.
Well, that s that stor I don't think I brought this up when we talked about that quote, but this whole situation reminds me of that uh I think it's Mary Oli Oliver that I've shared before. Somebody once handed me a box full of darkness. It Somebody had once handed me a box full of darkness. I now realize this too was a gift. And that's this like same kind of idea that that was a gift that you didn't get that job because now you have a job you love, a best friend, and you're about to have a husband. Mm-hmm. What?
What’s Samantha’s story about turning a rejected job into a promotion, a best friend, and a fiancé?
And a promotion. And a pro senior leadership and you're getting a promotion.
What? I know. That's just A great story. Thank you, Samantha, for calling to share that. And that's what we want. We want to hear from y'all in this way. If something ever triggers something in you and you're listening and you're like, Oh, I should email. I should call. But then you're like, No, that who cares?
We care. I care. We I love that care.
Speaking of jobs and being at work, something just popped in my head that I saw the other day, uh, like a quick social post where it said, if you roll into work with two bags. Did you see this? Did you see this too? Okay. Well let me finish it because people don't know unless they've seen it.
