I'm Stephen Stockwell, welcome to episode 3 of The Case of Jesse and Luke, and just a heads up, there is some graphic content in this episode.

Police now allege Constable Beau Lamar Condon murdered the couple at a home in Paddington. This is just a terrible incident that's occurred here, the loss of these two young men.
Now this is Mardi Gras time and yet it's a community in mourning.
The
pain is ongoing. We don't have a lot of answers that we would love to have just to help bring closure, to bring peace.
Over the last few days, we've heard about the conversations that Bolimar Condon had in the months before the deaths of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies, about how people said he spiralled over Jesse, about how people said he seemed angry. And we've also watched his movements, hours and hours of him walking around and driving around Sydney in allegedly preparation for the murders of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies. And there, as all of this has been shown to the court, has been ABC legal affairs reporter Jamie McKinnell, Jamie, welcome back. Hello. Jamie, it feels like the last few days has been much more of a focus on Bolimar Condon.
Yeah, there has been. It's been more of a focus on his movements, on people he used to work with, people he used to be friends with. And there has been, I think it's fair to say, a slight shift in focus towards his perspective.
Yeah. Do you reckon you could sum up the last few days for us in 60 seconds or so?
Yeah, well, we've learned the extraordinary volume of CCTV that was collected by investigators in this case. There were thousands of hours of footage that were reviewed and some of it has made it into this court case. It covers a one-week window of time and that window includes days before and after the alleged murders. Compilations of some of that footage has been played to the jury in court and then released publicly by the Supreme Court. Jurors have seen Beau Lamar Condon at a police station's gun safe, stopping at ATMs, sizing up a surfboard in a sports store with a friend, leaving home early on the day of the alleged shootings and waiting outside Jesse's Paddington home dressed as a food delivery driver.
There has been that slight shift in focus away from what Jesse's friends heard from him about the situation with Mr Lamar Condon. And on to conversations that Bolimar Condon's colleagues or former friends remember having with him. We heard one friend felt guilt-tripped when he convinced her to let him use her Instagram account to send Jessie an Instagram message attempting to explain his behaviour through a fake cancer diagnosis. Another friend testified that he once asked her about obtaining a gun. And a third friend said nine months before these two deaths, he asked her what she would do if he told her he killed somebody and whether she would help hide a body before also admitting, according to her, to breaking into Jesse's house.
