What is the opening banter and who are the hosts of this episode?

Andrew Cotter 0:05
It's time now for the chipping forecast, in association with Peter Millar. Brought to you by Andrew Cotter, Eddie Pepperl, and special guest Ian Carter.
Eddie Pepperell 0:26
Hello there and welcome to this latest edition of the Chipping Forecast. A fairly last minute change of personnel means that uh it is indeed me opening the podcast this week, which given the array of drugs, the vast array of drugs that I still continue to be on and what that may ensue, we should all be grateful that I'm not alone and I am joined by the great, the one and only, our very special guest, although Changes on that front too. Ian Badger. Ian Badger.
Ian Carter 0:55
Ian Carter the Badger. How are you
Iain Carter 0:58
doing?
Ian Carter 0:58
Hi,
Iain Carter 0:58
Eddie. Yeah, I'm good, thank you. How are you? Yeah, I'm more to the point.
Eddie Pepperell 1:02
I'm
Iain Carter 1:02
you you I think you sound sharper than you did this time last week.
Eddie Pepperell 1:06
Well, I'm laying off the C B D oil, you see, so that might be why. But um I I've replaced it with another um another drug, uh a a proper drug, I think you could call this one. But uh apparently has side effects which uh send some to sleep. It's not sent me to sleep, but um it's there to help with nerve pain. So uh I've been on that for a few days. I think it's having a positive impact. Good.
Iain Carter 1:26
That's good to hear. And if people didn't hear last week's pod and and are wondering what we're talking about, so you've got this nerve impingement in your neck which cost you playing The Irish Open. Yeah. Uh obviously you weren't playing this week, although you would have done once you'd won the Irish Open. So that was another one that you lost from that. And And so F French open this week. So Well I'm travelling.
Eddie Pepperell 1:52
I would I would give it less than fifty fifty it that that I'd do tiered up if I'm being Honest, but I'm gonna go. Um, mostly because I've I've chatted to the tour, I've inquired about a medical exemption and I do not qualify. So Um, for for reasons which actually do make sense. It might seem slightly unfortunate given my position at the moment, but having spoken to them I I fully understand. And uh but what that does mean is I kinda have to push it and uh and try my very best just to play at the moment. And I I yeah, I'm in a fair bit of pain. I managed to hit a couple of eight irons today, which I was quite pleased about. I can at least hit a shot at full speed, which is good, but there's a lot of pain.
Eddie Pepperell 2:30
So um I'm just gonna have to manage volume, I would say, uh to a large degree up until Thursday and then see how I go from there really.
Iain Carter 2:37
And is it like a shooting pain as you're hitting the ball?
Eddie Pepperell 2:41
Yeah, the issue I've got is that as I exactly, as I extend my right arm kind of away from my shoulder, it then really uh that's when it pinches and and hurts. And obviously the more I do it. The thing the trouble with Ireland was once I did it once and twice and three times it got increasingly severe the pain. I've been trying to monitor that kind of progress and that journey. So I'll hit a shot, take two or three minutes off just to see what happens. I think that's been lessened, which is good. I can finish the shot. So I I think there's a I need to hit a driver on Wednesday. And if I can't achieve that then I won't even bother on Thursday. But if I can get through that Then I think I think I might be able to play, but as I say, it's gonna be quite painful.
Eddie Pepperell 3:18
It's gonna not be comfortable out there. And um We'll just have to see, you know, if if I if I have to pull out through three, six holes, then I I do. It's again not something that I want to maybe have to do, but I at the same time I I simply have no choice but to play at the moment given that this could be my second to last playing opportunity. The Alfred Dunhill would I will be playing next week. So there might be an aspect of preservation as well for that because I I think given another ten days rest from here, I would imagine that the pain would be much less um than it is. So That's my predicament. Um
Iain Carter 3:51
have you been assured that you can't do any further damage?
Eddie Pepperell 3:54
I have. I actually saw an osteopath this morning who had a look at my scan and it was helpful.
