Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win.
A win is a win. I don't care what y'all say. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor IV. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it. Listen to The Clifford Show on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok.
On the Look Back At It podcast. 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 was big to me. I'm Sam Jay. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. 84 was a wild year. It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.

Chapter 2: What insights does Vincent Goodwill provide about the Knicks vs. Sixers matchup?
But you're right. I mean, the Wizards, though, anytime they lost this year, it felt like they were losing by at least 25 to 30 points. But they're not any good. That was kind of their plan. So I don't think they quit. I think that it's basically before they started, they knew they didn't have a chance to win. But a playoff team, I don't know if you go.
So at what point do you say we're going to stop trying? Like, what's the point spread? That's what I'd be curious. With your logic, Todd.
That's a fair question.
Okay, do you get to 27 points, 29, 31, 33?
It's definitely a point that happens before the coach would like it to happen.
Yes, Dylan. Putting myself in that situation, and maybe I don't have the killer instinct, but if we're down 40, I'm probably not going to try very much. Am I really sprinting up and down the court at that point? You're down 40 points. That's my line. I think 40 is a number where I am quitting.
It kind of sums up your work ethic.
Exactly. Just enough. I'm always down by 40 points.
You're just enough. Yes, Paul. But in the NBA, you could lose in the first quarter or lose the first quarter 30 to 18. You're still in that game. There's so much room. And if you look at the Timberwolves, They got better as the game went along. They scored 28 in the third and 32 in the fourth. Now, was it over? Over-ish? Yeah.

Chapter 3: How does the absence of Joel Embiid affect the Sixers' strategy?
Going to Panama for stem cell. You're like, they don't do this in the United States. What's the reason for that? And then, you know, you find out my kind of stem cell that I'm going through is different than what they have at some of the best medical facilities in the United States. A lot of things going on in Germany, a lot of things going on in Japan, a lot of things going on in Turkey.
But, yeah, Luka, now he's back. Now the question is, can you get him at the tail end of this series? Yes, Marvin.
Now going back to Joel Embiid and the load management term, playing 38 games doesn't mean you're load managing. That means you're hurt. If you're playing 68, 69, 70 games and you're missing every back-to-back, that's load management.
But they are planning back-to-back. That is load management. They're not going to have him play back-to-back.
You're right, but the rest of the time, 38 games doesn't mean load management. That's 30 of those games I was hurt. Have you seen him lumber up and down the court?
Oh, I know. I get it. It's like he's running in waist-deep water. And do I think they can still win the series? I do. But I just don't know. As soon as I saw Embiid was out, I thought the Sixers will win this. Because it's just weird. I've been around this game for over 50 years. You just go, that doesn't make any sense.
But sometimes you get that team that goes, okay, now we know he's not going to be there. It's not how many minutes is he going to play, how effective is he going to be. It's just, you know, Maxie has got to be better. You know, what was he, 9 for 23? And he's a wonderful player.

Chapter 4: What are the implications of the recent NBA playoff performances?
But, you know, you've got to put up 40. You've got to have that. You know, you start to do the math and you go, okay, where are we going to get these points from? It's like when I watch Detroit, I go, okay, you know, Tobias Harris, if he can give you 25, all right, along with Cade Cunningham. But you start to do the math and you go, we've got to get to at least 110 points.
In playoff basketball, at least that. And you start to go, where are we getting that from? That's why when I look at the Lakers, where are your points coming from? Unless Austin Reeves starts to act like Austin Reeves during the regular season, you're not going to get those points.
And you've got to be a great defensive team if you're going to be able to somehow stay in the rearview mirror of OKC. Because I expect them to play a great game tonight. Yes, Marv.
And then the playoffs, it's a whole different ballgame when you say, can you give me 25 for one game, rather than can you average 25. I can't depend on Tobias Ayers to average 25. He might give me a game, a series, where he puts up 25. But averaging, that's a different animal.
Yes, Paul. Dan, I think you've got to give a little love to Carl Anthony Towns. 20 points, 6 of 8 economical, as they say. 10 rebounds, 7 assists, only 3 turnovers. Nice game.
He's supposed to be great.
I just said it to Bob.
In today's sports world, it's amazing how you have to give credit to somebody who's supposed to be great. Hey, got to give him credit for that. Wait a minute. Wait. Not every show that we do is great. Not every show, when I'm done, do I expect Fritzy to say, hey, great show. But I'm supposed to do well.

Chapter 5: How do the Lakers' underdog status impact their playoff chances?
We're supposed to be a really good show. It's not like, damn, you guys are okay today. Now, I might say that to Todd. Like, all right, pretty good.
Well, some of us need a pat on the back and are very sensitive. And if you don't say that, they did a terrible job.
It's very immature. I know. I know. I walk by. Todd was doing the Todd cast yesterday. Dylan tried to entrap me. He's like, hey, you want to join us? I go, no. I just kept walking.
You didn't keep walking. You couldn't have gone. You were like Usain Bolt getting out of that studio.
You didn't even turn and look over.
No, no, no, no. You just said, nope. No, no, no. This is for America. This is not for me.
You're an American, Dan.
I am an American. I'm a patriot.
It's the most patriotic show out there.

We get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person while you're here on Earth? Or are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Keir Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hard Way. One of our favorites now, big time, Vincent Goodwill. He's with the mothership. And he still stays in touch, though. I give him credit, but not as quickly. He doesn't get back to Todd as quickly as he used to. Now he's big time. Now he's on get up, first take. That must be nice. Thanks for carving out a couple of minutes for us, Vincent.
Thank you for giving me the call. I thought you had forgotten my number. I don't get a fancy middle name. Thank you to Marvin for giving me some nice Michael Jackson there, some Displaced Hotel. I love it.
Did you see the documentary on Michael Jackson?
I have not seen the movie on Michael Jackson yet. I'm not sure if you know. Playoff season. No days off. No mornings off. But it is on the list.

Chapter 8: What are the latest updates on injuries affecting playoff teams?
But let's start with Philadelphia. How surprised were you going toe-to-toe without Joel Embiid?
I wasn't surprised at all to be perfectly honest. I felt like when you get out of a seven game series where you come out of a 3-1 deficit, I have a saying, you're still wearing the perfume of the Boston Celtics. Like you're nowhere near the emotional or physical capacity to deal with the next series in 48 hours.
so the blogging game one wasn't very surprising to me game two no joel and bead meant that dan they could not afford to play a slow game and then we kind of forgot that paul george for all the things that he's not he's still an incredibly skilled player who can carry you for stretches i'm actually more or less surprised that philadelphia did not win the game last night because of how they came out
They just ran out of gas in the last five or six minutes. They had nothing left in the tank because of the physicality and the speed of the game. And now you wonder if this is a formula that they can replicate for Game 3 just being back home.
Yeah, I think they had 12 points in the fourth quarter, but it takes so much energy. And you're right about the quick turnaround losing in game one. I thought Philly was going to win last night. But moving forward with Embiid, can Nick Nurse come up with a game plan where you're not sure day-to-day or game-to-game what exactly you have with Embiid?
That's impossible because, Dan, you know it from being around these players, the series don't get easier as they go along. They don't get less physical, they get more physical. And if there is a vulnerable part of your body, let's say you got a bad hand, you know what they're going to do to your hand?
They're going to whack your hand every chance they can because it's vulnerable and they're going to see how long you can go before you say uncle. And I think with Embiid, him getting nailed on that screen by Mikael Bridges, who's not the most, you know, he's not the physically toughest dude in the world. And he nailed Embiid. So if you're Nick Nurse, and he did some good things last night.
I'm going to say that, Dan. He did some good things even in the fourth quarter. when they were trying to get the ball out of Jalen Brunson's hands, and you've got to see, wait, do the Knicks have another guy that can create a shot late in the clock?
I think if they have fresher legs, let's say they have a lead in the last four or five minutes, Embiid or no Embiid, I feel like defensively, they found some things that they can counter to, and then you worry about Embiid later. I wouldn't say this. I would not make Joel Embiid the focal and center point of my offense, knowing where he is or isn't physically.
