0

Chapter 2: How is ICE's impact felt in Minnesota?

64.253 - 89.893 Don Lemon

Some of you may have seen some of it already, but then we're going to try to get you some advice and help on where we go from here. Is there an off-ramp? Is there a solution? There are people who are saying out there in Michigan and San Diego County that drastic measures need to be taken by citizens and protesters. We'll discuss all of that. Charlotte, this morning, we'll discuss that.

0

89.953 - 117.675 Don Lemon

Watching from the Bahamas, amazing. San Francisco, thank you. Did someone say that they were in... Wait a minute. I saw Minnesota. But someone said they're in the Republic of Palau. Amazing. Thank you for being part of the nation, Lemon Nation, this morning. Okay. Thank you for being part of the Lemon Nation, being a Lemonhead or whatever it is that you are on our membership spectrum.

0

117.995 - 130.525 Don Lemon

Here's the thing. I want to tell you that... Hit the thumbs up and hit the like, that's extremely important for us, okay? So before we go anywhere, make sure you've done that before we move on.

0

Chapter 3: What alarming incidents involving ICE are highlighted?

130.885 - 151.985 Don Lemon

If you're on the, especially if you're on the YouTube app, hit that thumbs up button, right? There are two thumbs, one's up, one's down. Press that one's up, the one that's up because it affects the algorithm, the more people become aware of our conversation. And here's something that I'm very proud of. We were nominated for four NAACP Image Awards, four of them. That is huge.

0

152.69 - 178.008 Don Lemon

I don't even know if there are the networks And any individual at a network is nominated for four NAACP awards. I didn't check, but I did it like a cursory thing and it's amazing. So the link we will put at the top of the chat, okay? Or you can go onto the NAACP website and find it. But anyway, or you can go onto donlemon.com and we'll put it on there. But I didn't realize you had to vote.

0

178.528 - 195.763 Don Lemon

So you guys, please go if you can. You can figure it out. You're smart. You're internet savvy. Please go vote for us. This is a huge, huge, huge, huge, thing for the Lemon Nation, for a new channel, a fairly new channel, independent media, independent journalism channel. And we should all, you guys should all be proud.

0

196.984 - 217.322 Don Lemon

You should all be proud because I don't care what, who you subscribe to, what other people you subscribe to. There's no other community like this. This isn't just a channel. It's a community. And we aim to tell the truth here. And we put you first. We put you and your voice. We want to hear from you. You even get to be on the air, okay?

0

Chapter 4: What legal rights do individuals have when confronted by ICE?

217.622 - 239.681 Don Lemon

Wow, someone is from Adelaide, Australia. Thank you. So go on to the NAACP website. Check the top of our chat. It should be pinned there. We'll pin it there throughout the show. But make sure you vote for us because this is really important for our community. I would say our little community, but it's a big community. Okay, so thank you for that, everyone. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

0

239.941 - 263.684 Don Lemon

I see you, Ms. Griffin, in there as usual. I love it. So Jennifer, thank you so much for that. Jennifer, lead the way. Tell people how to vote for us. All right, get in the chats. Put those links in the chat. Vote for us for the NAACP Image Awards. Okay, so I'm worried, everyone. And so I woke up, I went to bed worried. I woke up worried. And I said, how am I going to help people?

0

264.184 - 271.131 Don Lemon

Because this is out of control. It's been out of control for a long time. But I think it's worse now and getting worse because they're getting away with it.

0

272.596 - 295.645 Don Lemon

They're getting away with it, and I am concerned that more people are going to be harmed further and not just from being dragged out of their cars, bruises and bumps and that kind of thing, but someone else is going to lose their lives, their life, or other people are going to lose their lives. Other people will. Canada, Sydney, Australia, I see you there. I am concerned about that.

0

Chapter 5: What solutions are proposed to address ICE's actions?

295.865 - 323.457 Don Lemon

I just want to show you some of it of what's happening. This is, and then I'll tell you, there are these ice raids without warrants. But the woman, do we have the woman from yesterday who was dragged out of the car, Andy? If you can get that, that woman, and she's the woman who is on our thumbnail. She is the woman that is, I believe, is the focus of the show today.

0

323.958 - 339.075 Don Lemon

She's trying to get through traffic. She's saying she has a doctor's appointment. You can see she's stuck. There are a bunch of people there. and check it out, then it becomes violent. And she doesn't become violent, they become violent, watch.

0

343.402 - 382.01 Unknown

Hey, go that way. Hey, back the fuck up. Sidewalk, sidewalk, sidewalk, sidewalk, sidewalk, sidewalk. Force is not law!

0

382.03 - 383.232

Force is not law! You are not following the law! No, no, no!

0

389.675 - 432.338 Unknown

Please, I haven't been at my police before. I'm disabled. I'm going to go to the doctor up there. That's why I didn't move. I'm going to go to the doctor up there. That's why I didn't move. This is your duty. Why don't you help that woman? Help that woman. Why don't you help someone? All you do is hurt. All you do is hurt.

Chapter 6: How do community members and advocates respond to ICE enforcement?

433.668 - 460.048 Unknown

And then he gets in her car and drives off.

0

460.088 - 490.776 Don Lemon

That is a damn shame. And I'm just going to, pardon my language, because this is how we say it when it's a goddamn shame. This is sinful. It is outrageous. It is unacceptable. This must be stopped. We have to do something. And I'm calling on lawmakers to do something. This is inhumane. This is not about whether you are, everything's about politics. Everything's about race.

0

490.796 - 521.544 Don Lemon

So I'm not even going to say that. But this is outrageous. This has to stop. And how is it going to stop? Unless people take drastic measures. And there are plenty more of them. It happens. And I believe that after Renee Nicole Good sadly lost her life in the neighborhood in a city where she was a citizen and paid taxes, I think they've become emboldened It has gotten worse.

0

521.844 - 542.691 Don Lemon

They are covering it up. There's no investigation. And they have turned the victim into the perpetrator and the perpetrator into the victim. It is a goddamn shame. And I say that a G-O-T, not a G-O-D. That's how we say it. Got. Robert Held is here. He's a Chicago-based attorney.

0

Chapter 7: What role do lawyers play in fighting against ICE's tactics?

543.291 - 569.291 Don Lemon

We know him from Chicago when we spent time there covering these awful, awful ICE incidents, this brutality in Chicago. And he has become the voice of the people helping them. Robert, thank you for joining us this morning. I don't know if you are as angered or as outraged as I am. But I'm really I hate saying pissed off. I hate that word. But I am really this ticks me off every time I see it.

0

569.732 - 574.965 Don Lemon

What is going on? And let's give some people some help as to what rights they have and what they can do.

0

575.654 - 601.797 Robert Held

Well, part of the problem is that the administration has empowered, and as you put it, emboldened these agents. And how have they done that? Well, look at almost any statement from anybody in the administration. If you start with the vice president who said that they can do this, that there is no consequence, that they can violate the law. He said that they have absolute immunity.

0

602.131 - 614.624 Robert Held

What does he even mean? Immunity from breaking the law? We know where the Supreme Court went a year and a half ago and essentially said that the president and the performance of his duties can't be charged with a crime.

0

614.904 - 641.25 Robert Held

But let's get away from that politics and get to the practicality of the danger that citizens and protesters and immigrants and all of us are facing, not only in Minnesota, but across the country. And so if you go to Kristi Noem, who, as you put it, took what we can see with our own eyes and created what they used to say were alternative facts, you and I would say she lied.

642.057 - 665.913 Robert Held

Kristi Noem lied to our face and in the face of a video which is plain on its face. So I could go on and on, but I'll pause right there. But essentially what's happening is that agents are being emboldened by the leadership of this country. And when you go right down the line, down to Gregory Bovino and Tom Homan, it's the same story.

665.933 - 673.945 Robert Held

They are empowered, emboldened, and told that they're going to be immune from violating the law and we can't have that.

673.966 - 676.129 Don Lemon

Is this legal, Robert?

677.771 - 696.82 Robert Held

No, no. An agent must have one of two things. Federal agent, whether they're ICE or Border Patrol, must have one of two things before they make an arrest. They either have to have a judicial warrant or they have to have probable cause.

Chapter 8: What actions can citizens take to resist unlawful detentions?

697.002 - 723.263 Robert Held

Probable cause is different than reasonable suspicion. Let's not get into the nuances because they don't have anything. They have the color of a person's skin or they have the false predicate that they're somehow impeding the ability of the agents to do their job. But that's a false predicate. That's not what is happening here. They are escalating. They're provoking.

0

723.884 - 732.077 Robert Held

and they are violating the law and becoming violent for no reason.

0

732.117 - 748.744 Don Lemon

I'm going to show some different videos, Robert, because I want to go through a number of them. So that is the woman yesterday. And then ICE is going out. There's another woman who was, let's see, there are ICE raids without warrant. Let's put that up, Andy.

0

750.126 - 792.508 Unknown

All right. Where is the warrant? Where is the warrant? Where is it? Can you put the guns down, though? Can you put the guns down? There's kids in this house. There is kids in this house. Show the warrant first. Show the warrant. Show the warrant. There's kids in this house, that's it. Where's the Warren? Where's the Warren? Where's the Warren? He just checked in.

0

792.528 - 803.761 Unknown

Why did they get in when he checked in? Warren, go here. Get the paper. Please get the paper. He's not coming out until I fucking see him. Can you pause, please?

803.781 - 811.971 Don Lemon

Can you pause? Can they stand there with their legs in the door of this woman's house, not allowing her to close the door?

812.531 - 831.094 Robert Held

So we don't... I didn't see what happened a few seconds prior to the start of the clip. You ever hear the expression that a person's home is their castle? There's a reason. Our law is important... The castle doctrine, is that it? From English common law. And we have the right...

831.074 - 862.985 Robert Held

to protect our home so uh they cannot come into a home without a search warrant if they don't have a search warrant and you don't open the door they can't open it for you and i dare say don i and i hesitate to say it but i think more people are going to die um because the escalation look at that individual in the military tactical gear with the weapon raised is face mask on and a helmet.

863.426 - 873.205 Robert Held

This is a military style operation in someone's home. This is, this is not on a trajectory that anybody wants.
