Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to the Don Lemon Show. You are watching Live at Five. I am Charles Coleman, Jr., sitting in for Don, who is off today. And we come on the air with big breaking news yet again. Now, you may recall about 24 hours ago, I was in the same seat and talking to you all about the stakes at play in the Virginia election around redistricting. Well, that went the way that Democrats wanted it to go. And unsurprisingly, Donald Trump is not happy about it. In fact, he's very unhinged. He's so unhinged that he is now claiming that the election itself was rigged. He's claiming that there was impropriety and that the election was rigged. And now, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has even doubled down on those claims, attempting to shame Democrats for gerrymandering.

We've got a lot to talk about with respect to that story, as well as an administration in chaos. We've been hearing more and more reports about Cash Patel, the drinking, the problems at the FBI, the scandal at the Department of Labor. This is an administration... And the circus keeps on circusing. We're going to have a conversation about that. And yet just today, David Scott, former Democratic congressman of Georgia, passes away. We've now lost another octogenarian in Congress. And this has given Republicans a five seat advantage. There's so much to discuss. There's so much we're going to unpack. There's so much to talk about. And I'm glad you're here. But before we get started, just a quick word from our sponsors.

Support comes from Z Biotics. Now, I'll be honest with you. I don't recover the same way after a night out anymore. And when you've got a full day ahead, you know, you feel that. That's why I started using Z Biotics pre-alcohol. I tried it before a night out. Had it before my first drink and the next morning I noticed a difference right away. I wasn't dragging, I was clear, I was ready to go. So here's what's happening. When you drink, your body creates a toxic byproduct right in your gut and that's what actually makes you feel rough the next day. ZBiotics helps break that down before it builds up. So now, if I'm going out, I make it my first drink. Very simple. Go to zbiotics.com slash lemon. Use the code lemon.

Okay, guys, let's set the scene. It is last night in Virginia. There is a proposal for redistricting the electoral maps of this state. This is a proposal that began, ironically enough, and we're going to get to this, because Donald Trump wanted to try and give Republicans more seats in the House of Representatives in advance of the 2026 midterm elections. And what ends up happening? A state like Virginia puts a new map engineered by a Black woman. Virginia State Senator Luis Lucas, who we're going to hear a little bit from, some sound from in a little while, engineers a map, it's put in front of Virginia voters, and they vote in favor of it in a way that is likely to lose Republican seats. The next day, ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States, the person who started this whole gerrymandering experiment in aids of Steve Bannon and other folks,

decides to take to socials and call this election rigged. He posted on social today saying, quote, a rigged election took place last night in the great Commonwealth of Virginia. All day long, Republicans were winning. The spirit was unbelievable until the very end when, of course, there was a massive mail-in ballot drop where I have learned that before and the Democrats decided eked out another crooked victory. Now, keep in mind, the president has already acknowledged that he himself has participated in mail-in balloting and mail-in voting because he likes to vote from his new sort of adopted home of Mar-a-Lago in Florida, which is his right, which is actually everyone's right. Everyone has the right to vote
Charles Coleman 4:37
Via mail-in, they have the right to vote early where their jurisdiction allows it. They have the right to exercise their civic duty as they see fit. What this is really about is the fact that Donald Trump looks terrible because everywhere that he has tried to push this gerrymandering scandal, this scheme has not worked.
