How does Don Lemon define the difference between noise and real news?
Hello, Lemonheads. Hello, Lemon Nation. I'm glad that you're here. Good evening, everybody. Welcome to Live at Five on the Don Lemon Show on the Don Lemon Channel. Before we do anything for a sort of business is to make sure that you hit the like and hit the thumbs up because it does affect the algorithm and more people become aware of our conversation and what we're talking about on our channel. And our channel is very important. And especially what I plan to do And I hope that you can do something similarly, uh, is that try to have a better, more positive outlook on things because they always work out. Trust me on that one. This I know for sure. Okay. They always work out. So again, like, and thumbs up, and I hope you stay with me for the entire hour because we are going to, uh, I'm going to inspire you.
I hope. And, um, make you laugh okay so before we get into the news and we talk about what's going on i just want to tell you where my head is right now and not because i'm trying to avoid anything but because how you i believe how you entered the news matters just as much as what the news actually is how you discuss it how you frame it how you talk about it all of those things right um i've been thinking a lot lately about energy about attention about intention and about really how much of ourselves we give away every single day without even noticing. Let me know if you understand what I'm talking about. Let me know if you need to hear this. Let me know if you want to hear something else. And so I'm not just here, as you know, to give you, to reinforce your beliefs, right?
Reconfirm your beliefs, right? Part of that is legit to do that. but we still have to speak in truths and we have to call balls and strikes. And so I'm not talking about, you know, just not just work, not just obligations, right? But I want to tell you about the noise. Their intention, I believe, there's a lot of intention to noise, to outrage, to people who benefit from keeping us tense and reactive, all of us tense and reactive. And the thing that I keep coming back to is this one thing that I keep coming back to, that real strength doesn't require you to yell. Real strength just shows up.
You don't have to be out there doing like this and I'm the best and I'm the healthiest.
That's not what real leadership is about. So I want to start there tonight because everything around us feels really, really, really loud right now. Politics is loud. Media is loud. Social media never stops talking. Everybody wants your attention. Everybody wants a reaction from you. They want your attention. Clickbait, right? Everyone wants you to be emotionally invested. whatever they're, and whatever they're pushing. And I'm telling you that you don't have to do that. That's why I always say that you can be informed without being inundated. That's my saying. And that old people be knowing. That's from experience. So I'm going to operate from that. And if you're not careful, you can start living in response mode instead of an intention mode.
You're just responding to every single thing. You're outraged by every single thing, everything. And that's the whole thing. It's outrage porn. That's why I tell you at the end of the thing when I say you can be informed without being inundated to turn the TV off, I don't mean to stop watching. You know, go watch Heated Rivalry or whatever. Go watch that. But don't sit in front of the television all day just with the TV on, the news in the background, talking about what Trump is doing or whatever and just outrage. Just outrage. So I don't want that for you. I don't want that for you. And I don't want that for me. Because that's not how we're supposed to be living. And I think that 2026 is the change that we need.
I feel very positively about 2026. And despite what is happening in the world. So we're still going to talk about the news. Don't get me wrong. We're still going to deal with reality. But we're not letting the noise decide the temperature of the room. That's what we're not doing. We're picking certain moments that we need to pay attention to and not just the outrage, okay?
