Why did Netcracker win the OSS & Automation Leader Award and what does it mean for telcos?

Tara Neal 0:11
Welcome to the Fast Mode Podcast Series. I'm Tara Neal, and with me today is Susan White, AVP of Strategy at NetCracker. NetCracker Technology, a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation, has the expertise, culture, and resources to help service providers around the world transform their businesses to thrive in the digital economy. In December last year, NetCracker was named. Named the winner of the OSS and Automation Leader Award for Performance at the Fast Mode Awards 2025. Welcome Susan. Great to have you on today's episode. Thank you, Tara. It's uh great to be here. Awesome. So you know you guys uh won big uh at the Passmode Awards last year and I know that, you know, um the award was for OSS an automation leader.
Tara Neal 1:02
So let's see how does the team feel about being named as the winner? And um we know that the solution that won the award um was Natcracker's um domain automation solution. So you know maybe Maybe you would like to share a little about how the solution sets I mean um you guys apart from others in the industry. Absolutely.
Susan White 1:28
Well well first of all we're really, really delighted to receive the award. It's uh a great recognition for the work we've done in transforming OSS from from basically, you know, what was a heavy, manual, very complex environment. to systems that are now extremely agile and really can adapt in in uh in real time to to the different needs of the business. So So what sets us apart? Well there's a few things. Um first of all I'd say what we do is make sure we tie the network to the business. And that's incredibly important because if a fault happens, um of course we know how to fix that fault, but What we also know is the services that are impacted and the customers that are on those services and the SLAs and and the contracts that they've signed up for.
Susan White 2:19
So so doing this allows, you know, better decisions to be made and and and faster decisions as well. Um and we we're actually doing this in some really complex environments too, not not just telco, but also um new low earth orbit satellite networks, for example, one of our customers, Telesat. Um they have a really complex environment with huge amounts of dynamicism. Um so and obviously these you know, it's satellite. So satellite is extremely um costly. So the ability to to link um that what's happening in in space and the terrestrial network uh to their customers and and SLAs and prospect customers is is really critical to make the business work. So that's one thing. Um the second thing, we've really built our domain automation solutions to predict what's gonna happen in the network.
Susan White 3:14
So to get ahead of the game, if you like, and and start to fix things before customers even know there's an issue. And that's because, you know, we've closed the loop uh with AI. So we built AI models that can predict when thresholds are going to be breached um and therefore an SLA. um will be out of contract and and we can therefore, um, with our solution be able to automatically find the best resolution and, you know, get everything back on track. Um and the third key thing is is is probably the the blueprint solution uh that uh we built and um a good example here is is what we did with uh SwissCon because in any In any domain of the network, whether it's transport, core, RAN, fiber access and and even now satellite, there's a lot of commonality between these different domains and a lot of tools that can be shared across teams.

How does Netcracker’s Domain Automation link network faults to business impact (customers, services, SLAs, revenue)?

Susan White 4:09
So So with SwissCon we we built a a blueprint but we also offered it in the in the form of IT as a service to their own internal uh teams and and that really massively reduced the time uh to deploy new domains from, you know, what was one to two years to to about six months now. So big, big difference.
Tara Neal 4:32
Mm-hmm. Wow, that sounds awesome. Like to summarize what you just said, you know, um, you guys, um, through the domain automation solution, you bring visibility, like what you rightly pointed out. It's not just fixing uh the fault, but knowing, you know, what's SLAs are impact us and customers who are impacted.
