Chapter 1: What are the initial opinions on ICE agents at airports?

3.912 - 29.797 Jesse Waters

Hello, everybody. I'm Jesse Waters, along with Emily Campagno, Jessica Tarlov, Dana Perino, and Greg Gutfeld. It's 5 o'clock in New York City, and this is The Five. The reviews are in, and America loves ICE agents at the airport. They're a welcomed sight as travelers get screwed by long lines thanks to the Democrats shutting down DHS.

0

30.578 - 36.552 Jesse Waters

Agents are handing out water and stepping in to help people get where they need to go. Take a listen to these travelers.

0

37.375 - 41.724 Unknown

They've got a job to do just like everybody else, and thank goodness for them.

0

41.744 - 45.311 Jessica Tarlov

I don't see how extra security could be bad, you know.

0

45.591 - 47.455 Unknown

As long as they don't bother anybody, I'm okay.

Chapter 2: How are travelers responding to increased security measures?

47.475 - 63.442 Unknown

What's your message to Congress that could put an end to all of this? It would be ideal. This isn't working for us right now. Fireball. Politicians, get yourself together and do the work of the people that we put you in office to do.

0

63.782 - 67.787 Jessica Tarlov

People are really going to crash out, in my opinion, because this is really frustrating.

0

68.508 - 72.112 Emily Campagno

I think Chuck Schumer should be ashamed of himself.

0

72.133 - 76.878 Jesse Waters

But you wouldn't know if you only listened to the left. Democrats are crashing out over ICE Airlines.

0

78.3 - 79.782 Unknown

The president cannot pardon you.

Chapter 3: What frustrations are being expressed about Congress and the government shutdown?

80.062 - 100.307 Unknown

I'll say it again. The president cannot pardon you. And yes... I will put you in handcuffs and I will put you in a courtroom. And if necessary, I will put you in a jail cell. I had Port Authority police coming up, airlines calling me up. Everybody can say just like, please get ICE the hell out of this airport. They're causing so much trouble.

0

100.707 - 106.412 Unknown

Their presence here is triggering stressful to already stressed out passengers. This is bone chilling.

0

Chapter 4: What are the implications of ICE's presence for public perception?

107.954 - 114.7 Unknown

Steve Bannon is saying the quiet part out loud, calling ICE's deployment to airports a test run for the midterms.

0

115.355 - 122.507 Jesse Waters

And even CNN's admitting that things are running smoother since I showed up. I almost can't believe I'm able to say this.

0

122.567 - 131.421 Unknown

The times have dropped off tremendously this morning. They're patrolling the outside areas of the airport, keeping people safe, interacting with some of the people as they walk by.

0

131.441 - 157.815 Jesse Waters

So, Dana, Cory Booker says that his phones are burning up. People say they're very upset about these ice ages. Is he telling the truth? And maybe I don't know what his calls are like, but I do think that ICE is having the best PR run of its possible entire existence right now. And this whole thing is blowing up in the Democrats faces.

0

Chapter 5: How are political figures being criticized in relation to ICE operations?

157.964 - 176.389 Jesse Waters

I think that President Trump has come kind of a decent amount of the way in the in the deal making. He has fired the former secretary of Department of Homeland Security, has a new person confirmed already. Tom Homan is there. That's what they wanted in Minnesota. The headlines are not anything about Minnesota right now.

0

177.31 - 195.064 Jesse Waters

When it comes to masks, for example, masks on agents when they're out in the field, they're The president doesn't want to give on that. And I understand that. But what Tom Holman has offered is if an ICE agent feels that they want to be masked while they're dealing with the bad hombres. But that's fine.

0

Chapter 6: What are the Democrats' challenges in the current political landscape?

195.324 - 215.612 Jesse Waters

But they would have a number on their badge so that they would be more easily identified if there comes if you need to have an investigation. I think that's fairly reasonable. And I wonder about the things about Chuck Schumer not wanting a deal. A deal gets him in so much trouble with his base. Why are we in this situation in the first place?

0

215.592 - 231.66 Jesse Waters

Go back to the first shutdown from about six months ago. That was when AOC was rumored to be about to primary him. And he wants a fight. TSA has spent over 50 percent of the year in shutdown. If ICE can go there and even if they're handing out water.

0

Chapter 7: What does Vince Vaughn's critique of late-night shows reveal?

232.163 - 254.44 Jesse Waters

they are calming things down. I actually think that the Americans have been way too patient. Brooke Taylor has done an amazing job for us. She's in Houston interviewing these people who are pretty patient. They're not as mad as I think that they could be. The back and forth on the funding deal is wild. And I think that Democrats right now look incredibly weak and out of touch.

0

254.741 - 263.214 Jesse Waters

They should just figure out a way to get this done because Even though you'll say, well, the president doesn't want to do this or doesn't want to do that. He is not necessarily the problem.

0

Chapter 8: How are new airline seating arrangements changing the travel experience?

263.775 - 286.056 Jesse Waters

He has come quite a ways down the field. And they keep moving the goalposts. You know, Dana makes a great point about the PR that ICE is getting. They should start handing out neck pillows. That is something that everybody needs on these flats. That's a good point. That's a great point. I think... You know, when you talk about the patience that travelers have, it's like the... Yeah, believe it.

0

286.076 - 296.447 Jesse Waters

Yes, and the... I don't know if it's patience, it's just the burden that the TSA agents themselves have to assume. And the fact that Chuck Schumer has the nerve to stand up there and say what's bone-chilling is ice at the airport.

0

296.467 - 316.149 Jesse Waters

No, what's bone-chilling is his Ichabod crane, you know, hunched over while his... The employees of the federal government are currently selling their cars, they're taking out loans, they're borrowing money from family, they're going to food banks... on their way to a job that doesn't pay them. We have a grandmother in Iowa who says her last paycheck was $13 from the government.

0

316.189 - 337.112 Jesse Waters

She used to be homeless before she was hired, built a life for herself. She supports four children, two grandchildren. And how do we thank her? How do we thank that commitment of service, those decades-long commitment to us? We thank her by having her sell her car so she can pay her mortgage. She says she calls nonprofits every day seeking help. So you're telling me...

0

337.295 - 352.317 Jesse Waters

Our employed TSA agents have to call nonprofits for help making their rent. And it's like the AFSCI union president said, stop calling me and asking me about lines. Ask me about if somebody is going to eat today. And then you have.

352.297 - 375.148 Jesse Waters

The DA of Philly who has the nerve, it's sort of like watching a really unlikable villain in a movie who stands and mocks, you know, the superhero while he's in chains and telling him off. He has the nerve to stand in an airport addressing ICE agents directly and threatening them with arresting. I'm going to put you in prison if you pull this, you know, on this Toronto tile.

375.128 - 398.382 Jesse Waters

The nerve of that, while those then ICE agents who, by the way, it's a different jurisdiction, and they have to sit there and take it because they are more honorable than he is, because they have greater character than he does, because chances are, believe me, if it wasn't in front of the camera and if it wasn't on the Toronto tile that he enjoyed, he probably would actually be saying thank you to those brave men and women that actually serve their country unlike him.

399.084 - 404.832 Jesse Waters

Jessica, besides shutting the government down twice, what have the Democrats accomplished since Trump was sworn in?

405.773 - 424.497 Unknown

Well, I mean, when you're in opposition, it's very hard to have an accomplishment. Like, obviously, you couldn't get a piece of legislation through on your own. There have been, I guess, some bipartisan wins. But a big accomplishment is we're winning a ton of elections in the Trump era. And I plan on talking about that in every single block as we go through the day.
