Life sometimes has a way of blindsiding you with a feeling of being overwhelmed at the worst possible time. That's why you have your self-care, your coping strategies. That's why you have us. I'm Nora McInerney, and this is the Head Start, Embracing the Journey, a podcast where we'll be taking all those things you usually save for your friend group out into the open so we can all find a bit of optimism. For those battling chronic migraine, these conversations are going to be even more helpful and relatable. So definitely stick around. This show is brought to you in partnership with AbbVie. So first, let's hear some important safety information and stay tuned to the end of the podcast for more.
Indication. Botox, anabotulinum toxin A, is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to prevent headaches in adults with chronic migraine who have 15 or more days each month with headache lasting four or more hours each day in people 18 years and older. It is not known whether Botox is safe and effective to prevent headaches in patients with migraine who have 14 or fewer headache days each month or episodic migraine. Important safety information. Botox may cause serious side effects that can be life-threatening. Get medical help right away if you have any of these problems anytime, hours to weeks after injection of Botox. Problems swallowing, speaking, or breathing due to weakening of associated muscles can be severe and result in loss of life.
You are at the highest risk if these problems are pre-existing before injection. Swallowing problems may last for several months. Spread of toxin effects. The effect of botulinum toxin may affect areas away from the injection site and cause serious symptoms, including loss of strength and all-over muscle weakness, double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, hoarseness or change or loss of voice, trouble saying words clearly, loss of bladder control, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing. Please stay tuned for additional important safety information within this podcast.
Today's guests, Priya Rama and Qasim Amin Nathari, are not Botox patients. Priya and Qasim were not compensated by AbbVie for sharing their story. Portions of this podcast are sponsored by AbbVie.
I can't believe we're here already. After three seasons of stories, three seasons of conversations, and most importantly, three seasons of people showing up for each other in ways that are honest and so brave, we're back again. Welcome to season four. When we first started this show, the goal was simple. We wanted to build a space where people living with chronic migraine could talk openly about their journey and be reminded that they're not alone. We wanted this to be a place where you could hear someone else describe what they're going through and maybe stop and think, oh, that's me. That's my life. That's my Tuesday morning. And I'm so proud to say, over time, something else happened, something a little unexpected.
This also became a beautiful community of friends. And if there's one thing I've learned from my own experiences and from the incredible people I've met who are living through hard things, it's this. Checking in matters, especially for those living with chronic migraine. Not just once, not just when the struggle is new or the story is at its most dramatic, but later, months later, years later, or even on a random day when life is still happening between work calls and that third load of laundry. Because life doesn't pause, not for anything. And living with a chronic condition means that you are constantly adjusting, constantly recalibrating, always trying to figure out what today or even the next hour is going to look like.
