One of my big takes yesterday was Omar Khan being in over his head as a general manager and getting outmaneuvered by Howie Roseman. And it turns out the maneuvering came from Jerry Jones. Now, I don't want to retract anything I said when it came to Khan.
I used the analogy yesterday with the new Apple CEO. He's a product guy. The expectation is going to be for their products to dominate because that's what he does well. When you're a salary cap guy, you're viewed as a wheeler and a dealer. You understand money. You understand value. You're viewed a little bit differently than maybe a John Schneider or Jason Light that have a scouting background. I have different expectations, even though the job title doesn't change. General manager is the same throughout the league. But I think it's fair to say the expectations of you... should be viewed a little differently. And Howie Roseman has a similar background to Khan, and he's viewed as one of, if not the best GM in the league.
