It is a Tuesday. What in the world do we make of what we witnessed last night? Are the Chiefs back? Are the Broncos toast? Bo knows nothing after that performance. Welcome in, it's a Tuesday. Heard hierarchy and the unique one after week one and one hour from now. So you could be a really good team and have a really bad week one. The Patriots, the Chargers, the Rams, and the Broncos. The difference is Stafford, Herbert, and Drake May are seen differently. as minted guys. Bo Nix for Denver is still in that do we make him the future phase of his contract. Right now, you can't. But Colin, you love Bo Nix. Yeah, and Sean McVay loved Jared Goff. And then he didn't. And C.J. Stroud was the savior with the Texans. And then he wasn't.
And your boss thought you were a rock star in sales. Then you got distracted. A year later... You're like number four on the vice president potential list. This is not a legacy position at quarterback. The NFL is, what have you done for me weekly? Not lately, weekly.
What happened in the Chiefs‑vs‑Broncos blowout and why does it matter?
Bo Nix last year won 14 games. His passer rating was 88. To give you some perspective on that, the average passer rating last 21 years of quarterbacks that win 14 games is 105. So of the last 17 quarterbacks, To win 14 games plus, Bo Nix has the lowest passer rating. And that's with Sean Payton. Jalen Waddell had one catch for two yards. This is a stacked roster. At tight end, at receiver, at back. The head coach is supposed to have some hot shot offensive coordinator whiz. But Colin, you liked him. Yeah, and now I don't. It's not good. I thought Jaden Daniels, after his rookie year... was going to be Andrew Luck plus, and then he wasn't. I'm not saying you have to bench him. Again, the Rams, the Chargers, I mean, Drake May threw three fourth-quarter interceptions.
But we all kind of know Drake May is special. Raw, but special. Okay, Sean Payton is not a 42-year-old firecracker. Been around. Doesn't want to coach forever. I look at this thing right now, and I'm telling you, Bo Nix in trouble. Because the great quarterbacks just make it work. Mahomes last night wasn't great, but he just made it work. You go down to the Buffalo game at Houston. It wasn't pretty. Sometimes Josh Allen's reckless. He just makes it work. Caleb Williams, I'm going to take off, makes it work. Quarterbacks come into three categories. They're either elevators... They're executors. They execute. Or they're inhibitors. Bo Nix was a talented executor.
Why is Bo Nix’s performance under scrutiny after Denver’s loss?
Could he become an elevator? No, he's category three now. He is getting in the way. Again, I'm not saying to bench him. But not only is there a gap between Mahomes and Bo Nix, there is now a gap between Jackson Dart and Bo Nix. Since he entered the league, he has 10 starts where the passer rating has been under 70. Again, I'll give you a pass on your first 20 starts. You're going to have bad Caleb Williams first year. I'm going to give you a year and a half to figure it out. But I've always said by Thanksgiving of year two, I've got to see some stuff that is special. And he is athletic. But not only does he have 10 games in which a passer rating is under 70, he's got another 13 games. Where it's under 80.
Like, last night can't happen. Of his 17 completions, 14 are only five yards down the field or fewer. That is dink and dunk. That's a staff that doesn't trust him. And that's with Jalen Waddell. So, like, yeah, I used to like a lot of things. And then I don't. Jeff Bezos always says that you should make changes every day at your company. Don't change your values or morals, but you should make changes every day. Like the team's too good. The roster's too good. And I'm not saying it's week one. Patriots had a weird second half in week one.
