I'm Katie Byrne and today on the Indo Daily, I'm joined by Irish independent security correspondent Robin Schiller and Bellingcat researcher Connor Plunkett to discuss the Dapper Don's imminent departure. Connor Plunkett, it appears that another member of the Kinahan Cartel is set to leave Dubai, that being Christy Kinahan senior. Can you tell us what the situation in front of him is like?
Yeah. So just some background, Bell and Cat and the Sunday Times reported in early August on the UAE visa statuses of the key members of the cartel. And we'd been monitoring Christy Kinnan's residency status ever since. So a few weeks ago, we discovered that his visa was cancelled at the end of last month, which technically means he has thirty days to either leave or get a new visa.
How did the Kinahans obtain UAE residency, and can Christy Kinahan Jr stay?
And that that time limit he has to leave is tomorrow.

the visas in the first place?
Christie had been established in the UE for quite a long time, but uh when his sons Daniel and Christopher Jr. initially went there a decade ago, they were able to set up companies with the help of local fixers. And they were actually deemed low risk by the authorities, which is kind of hard to believe. So once they have legitimate employment, they can apply for residence visas, and that's what they did. As part of our investigation, we were able to find out the companies that had sponsored their employment visas. And when I spoke to the manager of the company that sponsored Christopher Kinnan Jr.'s current residence visa, he told me that if the UE had any issue with Kinnan Jr., the permit application would have been rejected.
