in. So y how did you end up on the the first time, like how d of all the the ways you could find yourself back in the limelight, because you had such a a strong career as a singer. Or do you want to start with singing?
Yeah, I think uh be even before Idol, for me it seemed like Uh the s especially the s the songwriting, anything you touched seemed to turn to gold. Well actually I
didn't write I didn't write my first hit until I was your age. I didn't write my first hit till I was uh th thirty exactly.
Right. So that was pre idol still, huh? Still hard. That was that was way of the idol. That was that was way pre-idal. No, no, the stuff that I No, no, the stuff that
I had as hits with uh as a as a pop singer were songs that I didn't write. One was Never Gonna Fall in Love Again, which was written by a guy called Eric Carmen. But then then Eric Carmen, we realized, had actually stolen it from a classic called uh Rak guy called Rach Manonoff. And he thought Rach Mananoff was a 19th century writer, but he died in 1930 or 40, and he was still in college. copyright. So Eric Carmen eventually had to put written by Eric Carmen and Serge Rachmaninoff. Eric Common event. And Serge Rachmaninoff's great grandchildren got two twenty million Celine Dion versions of Never Gonna Fall in Love Again. Isn't that beautiful? Wouldn't you like to be the grand great great grandchild that gets twenty million sales?
