Can I just bring something up which I find so heartbreaking in your childhood story? And this isn't to do with violence. It's more as a kid, how do you process this? Didn't you say that your dad at one stage essentially replaced your mum with someone else?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah. Dad came home once.
Dad came home once with a woman and mum, my brother and I were sitting at the table because dinner was a sharp six o'clock or whatever it was. And mum's sitting at the table.

Chapter 2: What traumatic childhood experiences does Kyle share?
She just put this stuff down. Dad shows up with another woman. And looks at mum and says, you'll be spending the night in the bedroom. Off you go. And sat this other woman down at my mum's chair at the dinner table and that woman ate my mother's meal. What the hell? Yeah.
Yeah.
And then that woman stayed with us for about six months and dad was having it off with her, as mum would say. Gee, parents have funny little sayings. And your mum just stayed. Your father was having it off with her.
Your mum just stayed living in the house for six months.
1975, like what options did the woman have? Jackie, you're crying. Yeah, it's tough.

Chapter 3: How did Kyle cope with his father's affair as a child?
It's tough. You know, but she's great now, Mum. Split up with her third husband just recently. She doesn't muck around anymore. She doesn't hang around in case things get good anymore. She's like, what? What did you say? You're out of here. I'm moving. Good on her.
Yeah, it took her her whole life to get that strength. And this is why these laws are so important, to just protect women, because look what they've had to deal with. But, like, Kyle, I just can't imagine you as a child growing up around that and how you would have, like, internalised so much and coped with something like that.
I actually think what I did was, like, I went into protection mode for my little brother. Like, I just didn't want him to... bear witness to any of this because he was so little. So I'd just take him to my room and we'd go into, like, fantasy land with toys and... Yeah. Yeah.
But, you know, that's why I'm quite... Like, a lot of people think I'm a bit of an arsehole, but I'm actually very soft with women. And I think it's growing up with Mum and seeing what she went through. I don't like seeing girls... I'm upset now because Jackie's crying. Yeah. If a girl cries, I just start crying. Like, the real soft thing I am.
Yeah, no, that's extremely... It's heavy for a child to have to grow up around, you know? Yeah. Like, I'm so sorry you went through that. And, you know, that's not easy. You have had a really awful childhood.
Many, you know, many parts of it have been... Yeah, but a very fabulous adult life.
I know, honey, I know. I'm weighing out the scales here. that you went through that because, yeah, no child should have to witness that in their family home.
Yeah, but, you know, children have been through worse. Some children have seen their parents murdered. Some kids have been alive in a car accident while their whole family's dead in the car. Like, you just keep walking forward. That's all you can do. Try and put a smile on people's face. Try and live a good life.

Chapter 4: What was the impact of Kyle's father's actions on his family?
Try and learn the lessons of things that we saw as kids that we don't want to show our kids.
Yeah, I know, I know. And how amazing your mum now lives close by and you look after her.
Wow, in all honesty, I haven't returned about three of them. Probably should give her a ring this morning. Y'all been great. Thank you so much. Kyle and Jackie O.
