It's so funny because I'm always like, when is enough enough? I know my extension line is great. I know it works for most people. I want to know what is not working for you. What is not there in our industry? And that is what I thrive off of. What does it mean to be a legacy maker to you? I think being able to let every woman know I didn't go to college, but if you put your mind to it and you really follow through and you figure out how to do it, I always say, if you can learn one thing from me, I did my job. So that's what it is. It's just, it's about helping others be able to succeed and do it. Like I want people to understand and to learn and to be able to take that to the next level.

My name is Dimitra Loro and I am the owner and founder of Malia, the extension line with our legendary butterfly method.
Say that again. That was amazing. I'm just kidding. We're about to walk in and do your interview for your actual legacy makers episode. It's very rare that I'm going to do the interview with you, but I don't know anything about you. We do this intentionally because we want to be surprised as we learn about you. So what are we going to learn in your episode that we're yet to film?
How did Dimitra overcome challenges as a high school dropout?
So I am a high school dropout. I dropped out when I was 17. And then I basically opened my first salon at 22 years old. My parents basically told me you either need to make something of yourself or we're going to have big problems. I come from a big Greek background. And I opened up my first salon at 22. I did very well. Moving forward, I opened up another salon, ended up selling that, took a year off from life. And then I came back, got married back to Boston. I'm from Boston. Oh, wow. And I opened up another salon and then COVID hit. Once COVID hit, I just realized I had my two babies and I just realized that it's just not the same anymore. And I went to either had to close my salon or get coaching and really find out the business aspect of how to really run a salon.
We're never taught in school how to run a salon.
Right.
And I ended up teaming up with my two beautiful managers. And we created something for hairstylists that is so unique. We're educating. people like stylists right out of school and a lot of salons don't do that. And then in the middle of it, I decided to open up a hair extension line that went viral on behind the chair and grew into an empire that I'm here with now. So I am a business coach for salon owners, for stylists. I own a Japanese head spa with two of my managers. I own a hair salon and an extension line and all being high school dropout.

I'm a hustler. I have always been the hustling type and it really got to the point where I was lacking. I really wanted to help others where I didn't get the help. And then I'm like, how am I going to do this?
