What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
I lived a whole career where people weren't that good. So I always thought going through that, wouldn't it be great if everyone could get along? Wouldn't it be great to run to work instead of walk to work? Wouldn't it be great to just really, really love what you're doing? So when I pivoted into Executive Surge, it was really with that in mind, that I was only going to work with clients that I felt had a good culture.
Hope Brick is a seasoned, transformational and results-driven executive search leader, retail strategist, and founder of Hope Brick Executive Search, specializing in building strong teams for consumer brands. With decades of retail experience, she helps companies grow through strategic leadership and talent.
The only thing that's certain in life is nothing. When you're in the fashion business, you're always looking over your shoulder, you know, like, who wants my job? Who's going to try to get my job? So you have to kind of, like, save your money because you just never know when there'll be a job elimination. These companies need the talent, which is why the pivot to executive search, to me, was important.
It spans the globe like a super high-level internet. Elvis Presley! Today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone. It's not over until I win. The Living Your Legacy podcast for those who live to leave a legacy.
That's extraordinary. The impossible. Oh, that is sensational. Open. Chicago with the lead. You said Paul is the fastest man on the planet. You can.
Hi, welcome back everyone to another episode of Living Your Legacy Podcast. I'm your host again, Jay Slangen, and we're down here in beautiful and traffic-ridden city of Miami Beach during the World Cup phenomenon that we have down there. But we've got a special guest for Women in Power, and she had an amazing show. We just finished filming. So introduce yourself, where are you from, and what's your business?
Well, thanks for having me. I'm Hope Brick. I'm the founder of my search firm Brick Executive Search. And my HQ is all around the world, but I reside in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Okay. So yeah, you kind of got stuck in some crazy traffic on the way here. So if you're coming down to the studios, I recommend staying in the Miami Beach area, maybe the W or something closer. Maybe not the Brickell area, but yeah, what was going on?
It was just crazy. I had no idea that this was the World Cup and how much congestion there would be. And I'm staying at the Four Seasons because I can. And I got so confused in that hotel. I mean, there was nothing identifying what floor the lobby is on. I'm on the 26th floor and I got in the elevator and I'm like, where do I go? Because nothing said L on it. Yeah. I ended up on the sixth floor and wandered into the residences of the Four Seasons and the pool. And meanwhile, Angelina, she's been amazing. But she said, three o'clock on the dot, not a second earlier, not a second later. And I'm like, holy shit, I'm going to be late forever. And so I was texting her. And the management of the fourth season, I'm like, can you get me a car?
Because there was no way to get a Lyft or an Uber or a taxi.
Yeah, that's a bad time because everyone's trying to head to the games.
Evidently. And so the gentleman at the parking place, whatever, I said, you've got to get me a car. And he's like, unfortunately this, unfortunately that. And I said, dude, stop saying unfortunately. That is not a good word to use as an ambassador of the Four Seasons. You need to be a can-do kind of guy, and I need a car right now. So he called his manager, and the manager said, we don't go to South Beach. We don't go to Miami. And I'm like...
What do you mean you don't go?
I go, I have someone who's my guardian angel on this shoot. And if I'm not there right at three o'clock, she's going to be, it's not going to be good. And so he managed to have the car to the hotel. The guy take me, his name's Josh. And I Venmo'd him. I go, what's your name? What's your Venmo? And he told me, and I Venmo'd him $250. I said, we've got 12 minutes left.
