Half a million people go missing in the United States each year. Approximately 1% of them are indigenous women, but that small percentage obscures a dark truth: Native American women are less likely to be found, more likely to be victims of interracial crime, and they are less likely to see justice due to a litany of jurisdictional and social issues. Their disappearances and deaths are referred to as the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, or MMIW for short. Welcome back to The Lore Lodge... To help out with the problem of MMIW, consider writing to your congressional representative, donating to an organization that supports Native Women, or spreading word about the situation.
