How did NATO leaders publicly react to Trump at the Ankara summit?

Ben Meiselas 0:00
World leaders delivered powerful responses to Donald Trump at the NATO summit as Donald Trump scurried off and went on the old Air Force One instead of the Qatari Air Force One. World leaders let the entire world know what they actually feel about Donald Trump. We heard from the Prime Minister of Denmark. we heard from the prime minister of spain we heard from the president of finland we heard from the prime minister of canada and in addition to their words they're speaking with actions as well snubbing u.s military defense contractors in favor of european and canadian defense contractors nato announcing a massive defense deal with saab bombardier for AWACS. You know how the U.S. has those E3 Sentries, which were hit pretty hard by Iran that are made by Boeing?
Ben Meiselas 0:52
Well, NATO said, we're going to get our 20 AWACS from the Saab Bombardier Alliance because that is far more reliable than the Trump regime. And we've been seeing a lot of deals where Canada, Europe, and Asia are buying from Canada, Europe, and Asia and not the United States, as Donald Trump has turned the United States of America into a very unreliable place for everything. It's also one of the reasons why Donald Trump desperately wants to get those F-35s to Turkey, even though there were prior sanctions that were placed on that because Turkey had previously procured Russian air defense system. Trump was the one who imposed the sanctions on Turkey. And Trump's like, what idiot would do that? You did during your first term.
Ben Meiselas 1:41
But the issue is there's not a lot of people who want to buy the F-35s. I know Trump said it's the best ever. It's countries would rather buy sweden's gripens for example because sweden is reliable and they will work with your manufacturing base in order to help your employment while donald trump talks about kill switches on the f-35s and once you get the f-35 you then have to rely on the united states for maintenance and donald trump will just hold it over your head and blackmail you the same way he has done with the Patriot Interceptors. And also, Trump will recklessly not abide by, maliciously not abide by contracts with American defense contractors that are entered into with foreign countries.
Ben Meiselas 2:23
And he will always do clauses that he can say, well, we're not going to give you the weapons, we're gonna just divert your money for our own catastrophic and unlawful wars. Let me show you what's going down right now. As you have the prime minister of Denmark, listen to what Mette Friedrichsen had to say when she was asked by a reporter. An extraordinary premise that I even have to ask you this question. Is Denmark ready for war with the United States? Are you prepared to militarily respond if the United States invades Greenland? Watch what she says. Let's play this clip.
Is Denmark ready to militarily defend Greenland? An extraordinary premise, but is it ready to militarily defend Greenland if there is an attack from any party?
Mette Frederiksen 3:08
We are ready to defend every inch of NATO. including our own territory. But one of the reasons why we have built NATO many, many years ago is if anything happens to one of us, then everybody should stand up for each other. I mean, Article 5 is our insurance. It goes for the eastern flank right now with the hybrid war coming in from Russia. It goes for U.S. when they were attacked, 9-11. And the same goes for Greenland, if anything happens in our direction.
Ben Meiselas 3:42
More from the prime minister of Denmark right here. Here's what she has to say. Let's play it.
Against any party, whether it's a foe or whether it's an erstwhile friend, you will defend every inch of Greenland.
Mette Frederiksen 3:54
Of course we will defend the kingdom of Denmark.

Which defense procurement shifts show Europe favoring Saab and Bombardier over U.S. firms?

Ben Meiselas 3:57
She goes on to talk about how Greenland is not for sale. Let's play what she has to say.
Mette Frederiksen 4:02
Yeah, I heard the U.S. president yesterday, and I think the U.S. position is unfortunately very clear on this topic. And our position is as clear as it has been all through. Greenland is, of course, not for sale. We hope that all, including all allies, will respect the Green Atlantic people's right for self-determination.
