What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
this is a podcast from rover
Howdy, producer Mitch here. Monday, we caught up on each other's weekends, including my trip to Christchurch, where I tried some Asian cuisine.
Yeah, and then he sent us a video at about 10 that night going, chopsticks are stupid.
So hard.
What interesting experiences did the hosts share from their weekends?
Sorry, I got halfway through a tempeh and yaki meal. Tempeh and yaki?
Tempeh and yaki? Did you get any strokes? Well, that's when they cook it in front of you at the table. What did I say? No, he said tempeh and yaki. Like tempeh and bottling. Sorry, you alright? That's what I was used to. What lane did you sit at? Did you wear the shoes?
Doc John came in Monday for your monthly medical check-up.
I'm 20 years old, Doc. My body's quite hairy. One thing that really bothers me is the insane length of my bottom hairs. This is plain text.
I'm reading a nugget capture. I show you.
Like a dad. Why didn't you just let Roger ask his own question?
What should Rog do? Do you want to see it?
You can try some depilatory creams to try and knock off the actual hair follicle in case you can do electrolysis to actually kill the hair follicle. That's what I did.
I mean, I didn't have hair like that.
On Wednesday, Bryce was fizzed to be getting in the mixer at Deftones. Was he? And I bet you that crowd is going to just be frothing.
Are you going to be in a box for that? Oh, that's a great question.
He is.
He is. Listen, you don't know the lengths he has gone to to get these tickets. Mate, I'm pretty much as VIP as it gets.
No!
What health concerns did the hosts discuss during their check-up segment?
I'm an invite of Live Nation and I'm like side of stage.
Unbelievable.
If you see him going into the concert before he makes his way into the exclusive VIP, give him a wet willy. I'm pretty much. Wet willy him.
I'm almost as close as Chino. We had some unreal callers this week. Cal, who grew up in South Africa and he saw some wild stuff as a kid.
So I grew up in rural South Africa. Parents were cops we didn't have a babysitter so when dad was called out to crime scenes i used to go with him and saw my fair share of dead bodies and murder investigations oh my goodness at that stage i was probably nine no but yeah i'd go with him i had my own little bulletproof vest that got custom made for me and yeah i'd go out with dad and uh be his little assistant did you have a little little cute little gun No comment.
But hands down, the wildest call this week may have come from Bevan, who fell from a paraglider.
Basically, yeah, I was paragliding and my wing collapsed. I came down. I literally saw my leg come out the side. Bev, how far did you fall? Probably 40 metres at speed in the pendulum motion. Straight into a rock onto the beach. Broke my back in that same scenario.
Right, so you're paralysed now or you're okay?
Fighting fit, prosthetic leg, done heaps of tripping back to Whanganui River. Today's a big day. Today's the first day I actually eventually finally go back to work. I'm actually driving up to my induction now. So you'd better not keep me too long or I'll be late. That's so awesome.
You're back to work. So what, is this a recent thing?
Coming up 11 and a half years ago, so I've had to, since I had a spinal fusion, busted up my two legs, had a new baby when she was only nine days old when I had the injury. And so, yes, and then obviously the roll-on effects through that, losing your income, losing your job, and then now I've been a friend of, studied civil engineering, got my diploma, done a few other things, and, yeah, just cracked on with it. What a great New Zealander.
What a legend. Standing ovation for you. Thank you. Oh, don't say standing. Oh, thank you very much. Sorry, Bevan.
What an absolute bitch. I'm so sorry, Bevan. Insane. We also had Duplessis Karithi, Brad Shields, Graeme Henry, Bulk and Beer on the show this week. So to hear those chats, text PODCAST to 3520. Have a good week here, New Zealand. We'll catch you back Monday.
Good stuff, Mitch. Yes, Mitch.
