They uh held them to six. Right now though, Bob, I would say there's no way this team could win a nine-six game. Like if they were involved in that Chicago and Minnesota game uh of this past Sunday, there's no way.
Right now they could win a game like that, but they won this one because the offense put up thirty-seven points and the commanders beating. In the military outfit that they are, they took out a revolver and shot their foot about eight times, uh just to make sure that they weren't going to beat the Cowboys and We'll talk all about it here and look ahead to a trip to Brazil, Bob. and really that's the best analysis we can give of this Washington game. You know, you look around the league, heck, you look around college football. This is this is a sport that uh leaves a lot of teams feeling like they lost a game they should have won. And it's nice to win a game that uh you don't feel perfect about at all. But uh you do feel like you deserved it. Uh and and I do. I mean, I I I recognize Washington left some meat on the bone to say the least. Um, they probably left three to four touchdowns out there. But I I feel like this is not a homeristic thing to say that if the Cowboys needed fifty on Sunday, they would have gone and got fifty. This is just one of those days where their offense shows us
Hey, we're top three, we're top five in the NFL at offense. And uh that means the recipe for the Cowboys until further notice. And the further notice would be when, you know, Christian Parker and the defense can do some of the lifting on their own. But right now they clearly are very, very early in in the process, earlier than we hoped they would be at this point of the season. And therefore the recipe is simple. We want the ball from the opening kick. And from the very first possession. We want to give our defense the lead. And then we want to extend the lead. And the whole idea is all we want to ask the defense to do at this point is to mix in a stop, let's say, per half. Um, and and there your wiggle room can be ten points and a half from anywhere from ten to say seventeen.
And uh, you know, we we just bake in That this team is going to give up twenty four to twenty seven points every week. And it's our job as an offense to go get thirty to thirty five every week. And if we can do our part. We believe they can do their part, and that's the recipe. And that's, you know, honestly, George, and I'll let this go after this one last re mention. That's why I'm not punting in the first possession in New York, because I've got to know that this defense can't stop teams yet, especially balanced teams. And I have to basically look at Dak Prescott, C.D. Lamb, and George Pickens. And say, Boys, I'm going to need a touchdown every quarter out of you. And if you can get me twenty-eight to thirty-five points a game, we believe probably we can't probably win a Super Bowl this way because you you can't win a Super Bowl with a bottom five defense.
And that's fairly that's where they are right now. But you can at least stay in the race um long. Enough to get the sea leg.
