Description

In this special hands-on episode, Corey Noles and Grant Harvey dive into OpenAI's Sora 2 - the AI video platform that's part TikTok, part meme generator, and 100% chaos. Watch as they navigate the new social media-style interface, create ridiculous videos featuring Sam Altman at a Berlin techno rave filled with clowns, and discover why Sam has become the "Tom from MySpace" of AI-generated content. The hosts explore Sora 2's key features including the viral "cameo" system that lets you loan your likeness to other creators, the remix functionality, and the surprisingly robust prompt editing capabilities. They demonstrate the platform's strengths (incredibly fast generation, social features, creative possibilities) and weaknesses (no timeline editor for scrubbing through footage, occasional voice mismatches, server delays during peak times).Key takeaways include practical prompting tips for better results, how to set up and optimize your cameo preferences, and why being descriptive in your prompts makes all the difference. Grant and Corey also discuss the broader implications: Is this OpenAI's answer to TikTok? How does this fit into the AI landscape where every major player now has a social platform? And most importantly - why is everyone making Sam Altman breakdance?Whether you're AI-curious or a seasoned prompt engineer, you'll learn how to navigate Sora 2's interface, avoid common pitfalls, and maybe even create your own viral AI video. Plus, find out why Corey's "realistic physique was not okay on Sora" and had to optimize his cameo settings with ChatGPT's help.āž¤ CHAPTERSTimecode - Chapter Title0:00 - Introduction: What is Sora 21:03 - Sam Altman is the Tom from MySpace of AI1:57 - Mobile App Tour & Social Features3:42 - Remix Feature: Editing Sam's Bedtime4:12 - The Secret to Better Prompting6:40 - Profile Features & Your Drafts8:44 - Understanding Cameos10:40 - How to Set Up Your Cameo13:00 - Optimizing Cameo Preferences with ChatGPT15:05 - Live Demo of Creating A Video18:25 - Using the Edit Feature20:09 - First Video Results23:32 - Fixing a Bad Video26:49 - Finding & Following People30:33 - Exploring Trending Videos32:50 - Why OpenAI Built a Social Platform35:34 - Training Data Implications38:00 - Voice Input and Pro Prompting Tips40:02 - The First AI-Native Social Media45:43 - Final ThoughtResources: - Sora 2 launch: https://openai.com/index/sora-2/- Download the app https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sora-by-openai/id6744034028- Sora app on the web: https://sora.chatgpt.com/exploreP.S: First comment gets an invite code. Hey, what's up, guys? Welcome back to The Neuron. I'm Cory Knowles here with Grant, as always, and boy, today do we have something fun to share. What are we looking at? What are we looking at? We are looking at Sora 2. For those of you who maybe have been living under a rock for the last three days, Grant, you want to kind of give the run through of what Sora 2 is? Yeah.

So Sora 2 is the next generation of OpenAI's video model. As you can see there, all of everything that you see on the screen before you is AI generated, even though it features what looks like real people. This is a new app that they created called Sora.com. You're going to be seeing a lot of weird videos of Sam Altman. I kind of think of this as the Tom from MySpace.

Like, remember when Tom from MySpace was everyone's friend? Sam Altman is like everyone's. Sam Altman is now Tom. He has absolutely become Tom. That may not have been the goal, but if we had the ability to throw Tom into videos, we'd have absolutely done it. And yeah, so this is like the next generation they previously had Sora. This one's very good.

The unique feature here is something that's called cameo, which as you can see, that's how all of these real people are showing up in all these videos. They've essentially recorded a version of themselves that they're then loaning out to other people to make memes of. Sorry, Matt Berman is killing me here. Yeah. What is that? What is happening? He made his cameo available to everyone too. Love it.

Smart. Love it. As did I. I'm having way too much fun with this tool. Finally got access this week. Yeah. And, you know, it's just been, it's a lot of fun. It's very much a social media platform as much as it is anything else. Right. It is very much like TikTok. You know, when you first come in and the mobile's like this, but picture it's skinny. Trust me. The mobile app is pretty great.

119.104 - 139.153 Corey Noles

It's updated twice today. It's still, remember, this is very new. Like we're in the tens of thousands of people from what I understand at this point. So like it's going to have updates as you get people into a new tool. You know, you're going to have to fix things. So keep an eye on your updates on your phone if you notice any problems with it running funny. I would say here's the neat thing.

139.213 - 157.343 Corey Noles

There's a For You button, just like every other social media app has now. And you can go in here. You can change it to people you're following. You can change it to top videos, latest videos. But there is also an option, which I'm not seeing here. Forgive me for not being more familiar with the desktop version.

157.323 - 182.471 Corey Noles

that lets you customize it right lets you customize the mood it's like hey what mood are you into and you can say i want funny stuff or you can say bizarre you can say dumb you can say musical you can say anything you want there and it will instantly craft you a feed of that that's awesome And it is really good. So, you know, there's all this on your feed. You can, let's pick one here.

183.052 - 201.673 Corey Noles

Let's see what Sam's doing. Please note, Grant and I are riffing this whole thing. There was no prep. There was no anything. There was us getting on a call to record something else and talking about the app and realizing, you know, we need to do a sort of video right now. So that's what you get. So, you know, you've got tons of videos. New bookshelves I just installed.
