We discuss their potential for therapeutic benefits for mental health challenges such as PTSD anxiety and of course OCD. In recent times, there has been a renaissance of interest in psychedelics with many studies reportedly finding huge benefits for mental health. With this in mind I wanted to explore the topic a little on the podcast, but I also wanted to point out that this is by no means an endorsement of these substances for OCD or for any other reason. Many of these substances are ilegal, depending on which country you reside in and they can also be potentially very dangerous, particuarly if used irresponsibly. If you are going to experiment with these substances then make sure you do so under medical supervision. A lot of research is currently being undertaken to try to understand more about spychadelics, but it’s my personal view as of April 2023 that OCD is best overcome through traditional approaches of therapy and exposure work, doing the hard work which tends to bring the change people are looking for. That being said I am delighted to have Christi Meyers onto the podcast to discuss psychedelics and more specifically ketamine and how they may be of help to people struggling with mental health.
