I think we all started off with UFOs thinking about them as craft. You know, little green men coming in craft. But maybe there's much more spirituality about it. Maybe there's metaphysics. And today we're going to talk about the metaphysics of UFOs on the Paranormal Podcast.
Welcome to the Paranormal Podcast. I'm Jim Harreld. So glad to be with you. And I think most of us who have followed the UFO, in 2026 terms, the UAP subject, we've always, at least I know I did, and many of us started out thinking about, oh, they're craft. You know, they're craft coming from some planet with little green men and they're visiting and so forth. But I think many of us over the years say, maybe there's something much more to it. Maybe they're not just little green men coming in some spacecraft, updated versions of what we already have. Maybe, maybe there's something more spiritual, dare I say, more metaphysical to it. And that is the subject of today's show. We're going to talk about the new book just out, The Metaphysics of
of UFOs, Evidential Case Studies on UAPs, Paranormal Phenomena, and Spiritual Experiences. And our guest today is that man. I'm talking about Dr. Jonathan Kendall. He is the author of the book, The Metaphysics of UFOs. He is a board-certified physician specializing in internal medicine and nephrology, practicing in eastern Kentucky. Originally from Crosslanes, West Virginia, yay West Virginia, those of you listening know that's where my family comes from, he brings a unique perspective to the unexplained, combining his medical expertise with a lifelong fascination with the paranormal. Well-versed in ufology, psychical research, quantum mechanics, theoretical physics, and religious studies, Dr. Kendall enjoys exploring where science and mystery intersect.
And when he's not practicing medicine or pondering life's biggest questions, he's a devoted Christian and a diehard fan of the Kentucky Wildcats, the Cincinnati Reds, and Cincinnati Bengals.

So I got to ask you this. You know, you're a well-respected physician. And how in the world did you get into the topic of UFOs? Because a lot of people think, ooh, that's kind of woo-woo. How did that happen for you?
I was doing research. Started about the beginning of the pandemic, just coincidentally, on apparitions. I was going to ghost, things of that nature. And I was going to look and see, can we explore? How does that work as an alternative explanation for the post-Tresurrection appearances of Jesus? So I really delved into the psychical literature, the SPR, Society for Psychical Research, and that ended up leading me to a UFO lore-related topic called Men in Black, which I thought might have been apparitional, which in turn led me to a discussion of UAPs, UFOs in general, and I think I didn't realize what had happened two years later. I was more immersed in that before I'd even finished the other book. So that's essentially how it happened.
And once I started reading on it, I've always had an interest in this topic. But once I really started reading on it, I just couldn't stop. It was just an endless thirst for knowledge on this subject, which continues to this day.
