GPs and those working in addiction services are seeing a growing number of patients presenting with codeine addiction. Concerns have been raised about the availability of certain over-the-counter medications, due to the risks associated with excessive use. Josh Crosbie brings us the first of two reports looking into codeine misuse in Ireland. Note: Some listeners may find the following report distressing and if you have been affected by any of the issues raised you can contact the HSE's Drugs and Alcohol Helpline on 1800 459 459.
