I'm going to go with Chris Shula. And I do it with the mindset that I know a lot of people in Pittsburgh have started to have of, well, if they hire Chris Shula, he would likely bring on... Nate Sheilhaus as his offensive coordinator. He has obviously the bloodlines, the grandson of Don Shula, and I know others in the Shula family haven't become legendary coaches, so you can't just hold on to that. But he also has a connection to Sean McVay where he can have access to some guys that he knows they have good offensive minds or they're being built up to have some bright young offensive minds. And as long as they are under the McVay umbrella, they won't have that great opportunity to to fully showcase what they can do because McVay is the mastermind in LA.
I also, I look at what the guy has done with very little resources with that Rams defense. They were the second cheapest defense in football in 2025, and he turned them into generally a top-ten unit across the board. So he was able to make it work with guys that were mid- to late-round draft picks, something else to consider. They had the whole F Them Picks campaign years ago when they won the Super Bowl, and they have not had many on either side of the ball, but he is part of the – or he is a big reason why that unit has been able to make things work with guys who aren't necessarily first-round picks or top-tier talent. They have multiple dudes on the defensive line. They have refurbished a unit that lost Aaron Donald, who may be the greatest defensive player in league history, or he's in that short list in that conversation.
But you have guys like Jared Verse, Braden Fisk. They have players at every level. They have Carnell Lake's son, who was a late-round draft pick at safety, who has turned into a really good player. They have been able to utilize – he has been able to utilize guys who aren't top-tier talent. and he's turned them into a top-tier unit. Think about what he could do with a Steelers defense that has a price tag nearly $100 million more than what the Rams have.
I know, and I don't care about the Steelers defense.
Who do Joe and Donny believe should be the next Steelers head coach?
I care about a quarterback, and maybe we're both crazy because my guy is Nate Sheelhass. He's my guy because of the young offensive mind. But isn't the Rams' success, even with the great Sean McVay, mostly related to the fact that they have an unbelievable stud quarterback? Yeah, that they traded for. They didn't develop Matt Stafford. Right. Right. So we agree that Stafford is the guy most responsible for their success there. Although McVay also with Jared Goff got to a Super Bowl. So for me, it's how do you get the quarterback? And I don't know that a coach can get you a quarterback.
