All right, Austin, you brought up the Olympics. Starts on Thursday for the men.
Mike Sullivan, who's not had a good year so far, first year in New York. They're in last place in the Metropolitan. They're starting to trade people off. But this is an opportunity for him to bring a goal. They have a team that I like. I wonder, though, about some of the decision-making. For example, Cole Caulfield is a really good player for Montreal. And the man we talked about a lot last week, Jason Robertson from Dallas. Both left off of the roster in favor of guys like Vincent Trochak and JT Miller. If you had to make that call, who would you take? I know chemistry is a big part of this as well.
Right. I just find it really hard to believe, Bob, that Robertson can be left off the Olympic team right now. And maybe it's because they want more grit and grind with Miller and Trocek. And those guys are probably going to be on the fourth line, I would imagine. Robertson is more of a second-line Olympic winger, I would imagine. Maybe third. So I think that's kind of why they went with Trocek and Miller. Because of fit, because of style, and the way that Sully wants to play some hockey, Bob.
Yeah, but when you leave it, we're talking about some of the best goal scorers in the game here that have been left off the roster. And I understand, like I said, you've got to have a little mixture of both.
What is the current state of Team USA men's hockey?
You want that edge because it got physical. If you saw the Four Nations last year, those of you who did, you remember Austin talking about how physical that got physically. Oh, they dropped the gloves at one point off the opening faceoff. And guys got injured. It was not exactly what you normally would expect in an international competition. So I'm just curious how this is going to work. But, you know, bottom line is they're goaltending. It should give them an advantage. They have some guys, and they haven't played all their best. But they're going to have to come up with a good effort. They do this in groupings, in case you didn't know. Group A, Group B, Group C, and all the way through. And right now, the United States is in with Latvia, Germany, and Denmark.
All right, so I expect them to run through that with no problem. Like you said, it opens up the first match. It's coming up on Thursday, USA-Latvia. Artur Shilov is on that team. He's been playing well for the Penguins. He may very well get that start. I'm not sure what they're planning there. But if the USA doesn't get through that, I'd be shocked. Group A has Canada with Czechia, Switzerland, and France. Now, that'll be a little bit more difficult, but I expect them also to run through that one. This is the group that's going to be interesting. It's Group B. Because you have teams here who have won and been on medal stands before. Finland is 2-1. Sweden, Slovakia, not so much Italy. I don't think Italy is going to figure in this, but they've got a team.
Yeah, they're the host country. They just automatically get a team, right?
They get a team, but I don't know what that team. Who's on that team? Who's on the Italian roster? How many in the NHL? I'd have to check on that one.

But Finland or Sweden can certainly put up a match. To me, when you get down to the quarterfinals, or let's go for the qualification round. So far, it looks to me like you're going to have Canada moving on, United States, Finland, and Sweden. If I just look at that as the four teams who are most likely to be there, right?
