We had an interesting sports call last night on TV where... A lot of people like it. A lot of people thought they're not done. They shouldn't be done. What more can they do? What more should they do at 412-928-9370? We'll talk about that after they got a good bat in Marcelo Zuna and whether or not you think Marcelo Zuna is the kind of guy who can help them to the point that he did a few years ago. And I'm not suggesting 40 home runs is what I expect, but I expect more when I saw last year from him, which was 21 home runs in a down year. He got a hip injury. I think that obviously had an impact because he had a good start to the year last year. And then everything went south once he got that injury and never really recovered from it.

So, I think that's a good move for them. I know it comes with some bittersweet elements to it. As Andrew McCutcheon now most likely will be done. And a lot of people didn't want to see that happen.

Austin, but I think time goes on. He's 39. Things have to happen. I don't think there's a spot in the roster for him. That doesn't mean down the road there may be. Or another team may be interested. But... They had to move on because they just didn't get enough from the DH position last year.

You guys could get hurt. There could be a multitude of things that happened that could allow McCutcheon to come back. But obviously right now the odds seem very slim. I think that this is the only acceptable thing that Pirates fans could have asked for with no Andrew McCutcheon return. Because it clearly shows that, A, they wanted to fully upgrade the roster, improve that DH spot from one of the worst in all of baseball. Partially because McCutcheon just can't do it anymore full-time. But also, B... I wish Bob that they would have handled the entire situation differently and told him maybe it was September of last year or entering free agency or gave him a good enough notice. I think McCutcheon was owed that.

And I think that's where the Pirates have screwed up in this, where ultimately we should be applauding them for going out there and signing three All-Stars from the past two years. Ozuna two years ago, Lau and O'Hearn from last year. But McCutcheon gets ultimately lost in the shuffle, and I don't like that. I wish they would have handled it differently. I would have been happy with him as a bench bat, but I understand it from their perspective. They're trying to win fully, and they don't think that he can do it anymore.
