Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?
Yes, we are ready to roll today. We have a Super Bowl to talk about, and there wouldn't be many days where that would be second on the docket. But, Bob, today's one of those days. How are you, my friend?
Good morning, Joe. How are you on a beautiful, sunny, cold Monday here in Pittsburgh?
I'm good, Bob. How's your curling form? I see the curling going on behind you at the Olympics. It's unbelievable that that is an Olympic sport, but just look at it. Look at it, Bob.
Yeah, I mean, those guys probably own a house cleaning business where they can sweep the way they sweep because they're pretty good sweepers. There should be some sort of physical activity in that sport, though. Maybe a body check here and there that comes out of the blue and you go to win it while sweeping. That would be real good. Limits, doing well, I presume? Doing great.
I'm just trying to picture now one of the sweepers with the brooms checking somebody into the other curling lane, as Bob suggested. Or using one of those butt ends of the sweeper. Yes. In order to go into an area you're not supposed to, like Sidney Crosby.
Yeah. Imagine that, Bob, with them wearing these polo shirts. Limits, I heard it was a rough day Friday. I wasn't listening, but your producer team lost in the producer trivia game. Yeah, we did. Rumor was you stormed off the field. Is that true?
Well, no. I did walk out after saying, like, congrats to the team very briefly because I had to call a basketball game and they moved the start time up on Friday. Yeah. So I had to get to the back and podcast the rest of our show. It was already like 3 o'clock at that time. So I just wanted to make sure that I was conscious with my time. But it definitely appeared as if I stormed out, yeah.
Who was your worst player? Calus.
No.

Chapter 2: How does the discussion about Marcel Ozuna's signing impact the Pirates?
And if this is how it ends for him, I think he deserved a better ending. Is there another team that may need him? Maybe down the road if he still remains active and somebody gets injured and if he wants to keep playing. But, you know, again, I don't see an avenue, a pathway for him to be on this roster this year now with this signing.
Yeah, because both him and Ozuna are basically full-time DHs and right-handed hitters at this point in their careers. So that's that. What do you think out there? We saw our numbers on the morning show as far as listeners, watchers skyrocket with this news. Don't get me wrong here. I like this. I do.
This is an upgrade on McCutcheon, and this is another bat, and now they've added three quality bats. Yes, limits.
So I did a little bit more research on Ozuna last season. He dealt with a significant right hip tear and inflammation that was a part of his season as well that you wonder, if he sealed up from that, can he get back or at least close to those numbers he was when he was fourth in MVP voting in 24?
Right. I mean, did he go for surgery or anything? Is it they're bringing in the next Horowitz?
Last year it was a one armed first baseman.
This year, a guy with one hip. What are we doing here?
And he just decided to play through it throughout the whole year. And then he ended up having either recovery or a surgery to be able to fix that ailment. Well, again, he has to bat four times a game. If he had to play the outfield running around with a hip problem at age 35, that'd be different, but he doesn't have to do that.
Bob, did you say there's an option on this deal that you read about?

Chapter 3: What are the implications of Andrew McCutcheon's potential departure?
At all. You're just going to, after what he did defensively and his improvement, not give him a chance? I don't care what he did defensively. Who cares? But that was the conversation at the beginning of last year. He can't play defense.
I don't care about his defense. If I want a defensive catcher, I'll go out and get Jacob Stallings and bring him back here.
What I'm saying to you is, do you at all agree?
disagree with the fact that he can't become a better hitter because that's what i'm going to be starting to get to that point he's not just a bad hitter he's a horrendous hitter one of the worst hitters you're just going to give up with him no not yet i'll give him one more shot okay but if he has that shot if you bring in another guy and he's going to be your man where does he get that shot i don't know if the other guy outplays him and looks like a better player than he doesn't he's gotten pretty good opportunity what were you going to say about uh catching
Yeah, well, what I was just thinking about with Flores is if you move off of Joey Bart, who is basically just not that great of a defensive catcher and also is a DH, they could have Davis, and if he can hit even 230, Bob, and just somewhat find it, that would also help their lineup considerably. Because right now they're projecting as not a lot of offense from the catching position.
That would be an added boost at the bottom of their order in the bottom third. And as a number one overall pick, I'm still going to not give up on him. I've seen guys. I'm not either. I mean, coming off the Sam Darnold story, I'm saying to myself, who knows? I mean, some guys just take a while. And maybe he's a slower learner that way, but if he eventually gets it,
I would like that guy to be the man.
You betting on that?
No, I'm not betting on anything. I'm not betting on any of their catchers because I'm not sure what their plan is with their catchers.

Chapter 4: How does the Super Bowl relate to the Pirates' offseason moves?
I think it's been a pretty good offseason. I'd give it a B+. How about you out there? Does this offseason move you in any way to become more interested in the Pirates?
to become excited about the pirates or no i understand believe me i understand it either way i do but i think we're just curious here with the ozuna signing that happened one year 12 million bob says a second year mutual option is that what you said bob second year mutual option but it goes to 16 million i think there's some sort of buyout involved too so i say b plus bob says b plus wonder twin what do you say
Yeah, I'm with you guys on a B+. I mean, it would have been nice to hit on a bigger fish like a Suarez or something like that, but considering the expectations at the start of this offseason, this is probably the best offseason the Pirates have had in quite a while. I agree. I agree with that.
Yeah, so then the bigger conversation has to be where does that put them in this National League Central Division? Because you can make a case St. Louis is taking a step back. They haven't been very active. You can make a case of Milwaukee. Maybe isn't as good as what they've been, but you can also say Chicago got better and Cincinnati got better.
And both of those teams are better roster-wise than the Pirates right now, in my view. Pirates have closed the gap a little bit with what they've done, but still, they're going to be battling two teams that I think are ready. When you put Alex Bregman in the Chicago lineup, that's a different... Yeah, they went out and made some moves.
They got some really good pitching there, and so does Cincinnati. Yes. When you have Hunter Green leading the way and they got some other arms there, young arms.
And you know Milwaukee knows what they're doing, regardless of the off-season grade anybody gives them, right?
Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't bet against them at all, but what I'm saying to you is they haven't gone out and changed the direction of their team one way or the other. They've just kind of stand pat, done a few things here and there, but I look at the other two as significantly better.
I'm looking at Fan Sighted, which is a site I enjoy, and they gave the Pirates a B before the Ozuna signing, and I'm with them. Lau, O'Hearn... And Garcia. But they also got a good write-off.

Chapter 5: What are the key highlights from the Super Bowl recap?
I think they're taking. Well, listen, I'd like to get to a Super Bowl. Josh Allen's never been to a Super Bowl. The Steelers haven't been to a Super Bowl since the 2010 season. I think the Patriots still deserve some credit for this season myself. But let's talk about this coming up. No one should have to face a winter without heat.

Chapter 6: How do the hosts evaluate the performance of the Seattle Seahawks defense?
It says here, Bob, I'm just reading that. I'm not insulting you.
No, it's true.
It's what I am. May show up for a round of golf powered by Dyna-G.
Oh, it'll be full-time if that's the case.
I'll be there. Powered by Dyna-G. Brought to you by Phillips Heating and Air Conditioning, Junk Luggers of Pittsburgh, Allegiant Community Federal Credit Union, Nest Expressions, Window Fashions, and Impact HVAC. Details at 937thefan.com. Partly cloudy, a high of 28 miles kilobrew. All right, let's be honest here. The Super Bowl sucked. Do we all agree on that, Bob?
One of the worst Super Bowls I've ever seen. I think Seattle, and I said this to you, I thought they'd win by double digits. And just their defense is just so good, and it's so well-constructed, and they made life miserable for... Drake May, he didn't have a chance with those guys coming out, and their coverage down the field was great. But it was bad. I mean, it was 12-0.

Chapter 7: What are the implications of the Pirates signing Marcel Ozuna?
There were no touchdowns in the first three quarters. The first nine possessions featured seven punts combined.
It was terrible. It was unwatchable in the first half. It really stunk. Limits, when's your first Super Bowl memory? Let's do over the course of Limits' lifetime, the worst and best Super Bowls we've seen. Oh, now you're testing my memory there, Bob. I'll give you one.
Don't worry. Well, it's not that far, Bob. Super Bowl XLIII. Yeah.
That's your first memory?
Yeah.
So you don't remember Super Bowl 40? No.
Oh, I don't. Well, I mean, consider that was, what, 2006? I would have been four years old about to turn five.
All right. Then here we go. Here's the Super Bowls since limits was conscious. Are you ready, Bob? Yes, sir. Steelers, Arizona. Great one, right? New Orleans Indy. I thought that was a decent low-key Super Bowl. Yeah, that was good.

Chapter 8: What are the potential changes in the Pirates' lineup for the upcoming season?
That was okay.
I remember the onside kick from Sean Payton. Packers-Steelers didn't like the result. It was a pretty darn entertaining Super Bowl.
Very entertaining out on Dallas.
Giants over the Patriots again in their second matchup. That was pretty notable. Not the greatest game of all time. Not the greatest game, but some signature moments. Baltimore 34, San Fran 31 was a great Super Bowl that went right to the wire. We always equate better Super Bowls with more points, it seems, right?
Yeah.
I'll get into that a little more. Certainly close ones are entertaining. But yeah, I think for the most part. Seattle 43, Denver 8 was a horrible game. That was in New York, right? Yes. And yet I marveled at the Legion of Boom and what they did to a historically prolific Peyton Manning offense. What did you think of that one?
Again, Seattle's won these Super Bowls because of their defense in both cases, and they were outstanding. Good game? Bad game? Horrible game? I thought it was bad. I didn't like it being in New York to begin with. It's just you run the risk of so many weather problems.
Yeah, it was okay. New England 28, Seattle 24, the Marshawn Lynch game. That's a great football game, right? Yeah, especially right down to the very end. Absolutely incongruent. Denver 24, Carolina 10. That was okay. It wasn't nearly as bad as this one.
This was one of the worst in the last decade for sure.
