I love the way he skates and how he can probably take it out of the zone and move his feet.

So I want to address this Connor Griffin potential contract.

And you guys are throwing numbers out there like $700 million and $200 million.

That would make zero sense for the Pirates.

But it's got to be a win for the Pirates.

It's got to be a win for Griffin.

But the thing you've got to remember is,

He's not going to even make a million dollars his first three years.

And the Pirates get him for six years no matter what.

So the goal for the Pirates would be to get him for as long past six years as possible, preferably eight or nine.

But let's just call it eight because that's the numbers that have been thrown out there.

He's only going to make less than $3 million his first three years.

Their arbitration, if he's good, he'll probably make $10 million, then $15 million, then $20 million, which puts him right around $50 million.

So for those next two years, if you're going to give him, let's say, $130 million, that's $40 million a year for years seven and eight.
