S5 E8: The Origin of Mad-Eye Moody's Staff!!
21 Apr 2021
Send us a textIn this episode I explain the origin of Moody's staff. Enjoy!Summary: Mad-Eye Moody is the slightly crazy and paranoid but brilliant auror who has a mad-eye and a mood. He stomps around with his eye and staff, never taking a break. Moody got his eye when the real one was blasted out of its socket. Moody got his staff when his leg was blasted off. His staff, however, is much more of a mystery. It is so intricate and made with such care, there is no way you will find something like that on the street. So where did it come from? We can only assume Moody got his staff when his leg was... removed. And because I don't think your average high school bully takes off legs for fun, the incident must have happened when Moody became an auror. An unknown fact is Moody can't produce a corporeal patronus. Why? Moody is one of the most powerful wizards of his time. A corporeal patronus should be the least of his abilities. There is only one solution. Moody got a different wand when he was eleven, and used it all the way through his education. When the M. O. M. came to his door to hire him, he took up the post with his wand he got at age eleven. But soon after taking up the post, he faced a very powerful death eater who needed to be taken in. They dueled and dueled, with Moody finally coming out on top. But in the process, the death eater blew off Moody's leg with a very nasty curse. So to mark the occasion, Moody took the death eater's wand and fashioned a staff to go with it.
