Line up the left field line. Fair ball. Simpson plays it well off the side wall, but he does not throw well, and Massey's going to go to the plate and beat the throw. He has a 13-game hitting streak. That ball was hit so hard, but Vance Wilson is going to send Lofton, who is going to slide safely for the Royals' second run. The pitch. Got him! They did it! They really did it!
You can unhitch the wagon! Put the ponies in the barn! The Oklahoma Sooners are the champions of college baseball! They wouldn't stop! They never stopped! The dog pile is on!
And now, figuring maybe it just does mean more in the SEC, Seren Petro.
Right you are, Kay. Right you are. Petro on the program on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Thanks to our buddies Todd Lebo. Or congratulations to our buddies Todd Lebo and Kurt Nelson. Big OU championship. You know they're a stick in ball school. They are now. Baseball and softball, that's what they're about there. How about that? You know my favorite part of that game last night?
The score. 13-2. Why? Because the last time Oklahoma won a major men's national championship was in 2000 when they won the national football championship by beating Florida State 13-2. Really? Remember it was 13-0 and then OU guy snapped the punt over the punter's head. No, I don't remember. I'm not a savant like you are. I was like, what is it? 13-2? What a stupid score.
I do remember it being odd now that you say it. But no, if you said, what was the score? I'd be like, how the hell do I know? I remember it was kind of low scoring.
OU won with defense. That's what I would have told you. And then I looked. I was sitting there last night when they were in the ninth. I'm like, they're going to score a stupid run in the ninth just to spoil it. But no, got them down. Had a runner on, but shut them down. 13-2, it just works.

Chapter 2: How valuable is Michael Wacha to the Royals this season?
And the area where all the people are is like some clearly some palace grounds or something. That's what it looks like. Holy smokes. When you've been around for a thousand years. Yeah. You have some.
Europe where the history comes from.
Yeah.
As I heard someone say.
That's pretty much it.
Yeah. Eddie Izzard.
I'm from Europe, where the history comes from.
Yeah. Yeah. Zahn watching, keeping an eye on it while I was having lunch over with our friends at Nick and Jake's. Nice. You know what I got? I don't. I got a slice of key lime pie because you pilfered the key lime pie they brought over the other day for my wife and daughters.
I will confess.

Chapter 3: What stats highlight Michael Wacha's potential trade value?
A fortress. Yep. Yep. First, you've got to swim across the moat.
Then you've got to scale the walls. Which is filled with sharks with laser beams. Laser beam eyes. Laser beams for eyes.
Yep. Yep. It's a fortress. It is.
It is. People have tried. Competitors have tried.
That's my trick to remember to take food home is to put my keys with it. Yes. Because I won't leave without my keys.
Remember the attempted invasion years ago?
I don't want to talk about it.
I think it's hilarious.
I don't want to talk about it. We'll talk about it later. No, I want you to remind me because I vaguely remember. But I want to remember what happened.

Chapter 4: How does Jack Caglione's power compare to other hitters?
I'm trying to... I remember everything about it.
Okay. I'm looking forward to that one.
By the way, while we're still in the World Cup, the BBC's FIFA update thing now has... It did say the U.S. was in line to play Ecuador in their round of 32 game. That has now been changed to Algeria. Algeria ranked 28th in the FIFA rankings, Ecuador 30th. So that's going to change as the...
Is it just based upon where they are in the standings?
Like going into yesterday, that entire group had only played one game. So it's kind of hard to tell what's what. That's going to change us several times.
Yeah, well, a whole other round of games. So we'll see. We'll see. They're going to play somebody. We know that.
Yep. They're going to advance. It'll be probably a week, about a week from tomorrow. The FIFA site thinks the U.S. will play a week from tomorrow in Washington.
Or at least that's where they're on track for.
Yeah. If you look at their actual page, this is USA versus some third place possible from five different groups. 7 o'clock start on Wednesday the 1st. Wednesday the 1st. Okay.

Chapter 5: What are the expectations for Jack Caglione's future in baseball?
We know they're going to move on. That's the important part. Rejoice, U.S. soccer fans. And we got a decent chance of getting Argentina and Portugal here in Kansas City, which will be a global event. That's just amazing. You know what? It may mean that Arrowhead Stadium houses, it would be bigger than a Super Bowl.
I think a World Cup championship game is bigger than a Super Bowl because it's the whole world. It may not be bigger in the United States, but on a global scale, it would be bigger than hosting a Super Bowl. I think having Messi against... for what would be probably their last time facing each other, what mathematically would seem like their likely last time they would face each other.
Winner goes to the semifinals.
Yeah.
That's monstrous. That will be an epic, the viewership on that will exceed, easily exceed the viewership on a Super Bowl.
I said they asked us one of the questions on Sound Off Sunday was where does Messi's hat trick rank all time in Arrowhead history?
Well, that must have been a Nick Jacobs question because Mick's not qualified enough to come up with that when it comes to soccer.
I actually think that may have been a Mick or Matt Foster question. It was not Mick.
I don't care.

Chapter 6: Why is Michael Wacha considered a key player for trade talks?
If I'm a guy who's lived in Kansas City my whole life, to me, I have it behind 13 seconds. But if anybody wants to have... And I said there were three others. If you were at the 24-0 game against Houston, if you were at the first AFC Championship game win, if you were at, you know, Burrowhead, my blank... you might put those ahead of it.
I said, so I'd say it's no worse than fifth, and I have no quarrels with anyone who wants to put it as high as second. Then I thought, In the end, it might not even be the biggest event of this World Cup there. I mean, it could actually be. With what's still to come. Yeah. If they face off.
Not the Ecuador versus Algeria, was it?
Algeria, yeah. But if they face off and it's Messi versus Ronaldo, particularly if it's a compelling game, which it should be.
No, it was Ecuador-CuraƧao.
Yeah, that's right. That was the Saturday game. Then this may even pass it. So that's something that we're talking about. Is it the greatest event ever at Arrowhead? It might not be the greatest event at Arrowhead this year. That's how big the World Cup is. Yeah. That's how amazing it is that it's not only in this country, but six matches in our city. Yeah. It's incredible.
It is. It is. The World Cup's been great. I love it when it's on our timeline.

Chapter 7: What makes Caglione a player to watch this season?
We should get like every other World Cup and every other Olympics. I'm okay with that. I mean, honestly, I say that tongue in cheek, but we definitely don't get the Olympics enough, which pisses me off. Yes. Because we fund it all. Yep. It's our television deals that drives that, and then we get it, well, when the Olympic Committee feels like sending us a bone. Yeah.
You know, that definitely irritates me. American TV. And it's not like, well, you're just an American. No, we pay for it. Yes. I mean, I don't know about you, but when I pay for the meal, I expect them to hand it to me at some point. Yeah, I expect to eat it once every couple of years. No.
So that's why I think the Olympics. No American TV. There goes your money.
Yeah. You're not having it without our television deal. So enough. Which has always been that way. All right. Let's talk a little bit of Royals baseball here to get things opened. They won. They did. They're red hot again, Curtis.
They're smoking hot again. Not really.

Chapter 8: How do recent changes in baseball affect player performance?
But, you know, some good stuff happened. Michael Waka was doing Michael Waka things. Increasing his value if the Royals wish to deal him. I was looking it up. He now has 12 quality starts this year. Only Christopher Sanchez. has more, and he has 13. Waka is second in baseball.
I would ask the question, when Michael Waka deals like that, is Michael Waka more valuable to the Royals pitching, or is Michael Waka more valuable to the Royals dealt?
That's a good question. I have another stat. People looking, you know, maybe other teams looking for someone who's good down the stretch. Last two seasons, he has 29 starts after July 1st. In those 29 starts, he is 16-7 with a 3-4-6 ERA. So he's been good late. And he leads the league now in the Knicks pitched. He leads the league in batters faced, which tends to make sense. But...
He's not just a guy who eats innings. He's a guy who eats innings effectively. How could that not be of immense value? And he's pitched in the postseason before and been successful. He has a ring. How can he not be someone of really decent value for a team looking for somebody? That's why I think he might be more valuable. I think he's more valuable than Lugo.
I think he's more valuable than Lugo right now because he's pitching better.
And he's cheaper. Yeah. Seth Lugo's contract's like $4 million or $5 million more. So, yeah. And if you sign him, you've got him for two more years. I think Michael Walker ā listen, if Michael Walker ā I don't give him away. Like, because there is value with him not blowing up the bullpen.
Like, part of ā you know, the Royals are going to do a better job of putting the bullpen together in the future, and hopefully a lot of that is going to come from having live arms that have been pushed out of the rotations and have, you know ā really perfected two pitches and can come in and be a weapon. I mean, that's where they have to get to.
They can't be looking for Matt Stroms every year. Because this happens, one with 30-plus-year-old relievers. They blow up on you. But, you know, Michael Walker, no matter who's in the bullpen, not overworking the bullpen is an important part of the equation. And so Michael Walker's length has value to the Kansas City Royals.
But I find it hard to believe as well as he has pitched for three years, early four years, go back to that year in San Diego, he was great there too. He had some injuries, came through it, but he has been rock solid for four years and looks like he's maybe even got a little more swing and miss to him now. I don't know how that can't be extremely valuable on the open market.
