with our good friend Mark Rogers from WWLS, the sports animal. Mark, I kind of thought the Thunder were going to get this done the other night, but they just really weren't in that game. How scared are the Thunder fans for this Game 7 coming up tomorrow night?
Levo, good to talk to you. They're plenty scared. I think that they were a little bit apprehensive going into this series because, of the regular season performance against the Spurs. And that Victor Wibinyama is just a different kind of guy. Very difficult to play against and got the Thunder out of their offensive rhythm a lot.
But in the last three games, the team that's had the motivation to really bounce back has won. I think the Thunder are battling two significant injuries to Jalen Williams and A.J. Mitchell, which may be ultimately too much for them to overcome because they're their next two primary creators. and scores after SGA, and they're both plus defenders too.
So the Thunder are going to have to rely on SGA to bounce back. They're going to have to rely on the home crowd. They're going to have to rely on the experience, and those will be the things that carry them through if they win.
Yeah, I kind of thought there's no way they were going to lose two games in a row, so I kind of felt confident they would get through. But the way that game went the other night, I'm not super confident either. Is SGA enough? Will they have enough? Do you think they're going to win the game?
Yeah, I think that they will win. I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs won. I mean, I do think that they're going to kind of have to rely on those things that, like home court, because the Spurs have started to come up with a really good defense for SGA. They're putting Stephan Castle on him and then shading with Wimby. And the Thunder just don't have enough guys out there.

Chapter 2: How do the Thunder fans feel ahead of Game 7?
The Big 12 just had their spring meetings. The SEC had their spring meetings. I mean, people are talking about college football playoff, expanding, not expanding, whatever. What is the feel down there? Because you get to cover both an SEC team and a Big 12 team in Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Are there different feelings about how many people should be in a college football playoff? Same.
Kind of what's the feel on that down there?
It's not really the battleground, I think, here. You know, I mean, Oklahoma made the playoff last year, so I don't think they seem to be as concerned about it. I mean, I think the OU fan base is pretty fired up about what next season is going to look like. And OSU, I mean, I think ā I just don't know the ā They're ready to do anything.
They've got a new coach that I think is going to do really, really well with the players from North Texas that I think are going to make an impact. Now that there's a quarterback issue at Tech and Brendan Sorsby's out, I think the Big 12 is really wide open. I'm not saying that OSU can't. is going to win it or anything like that, but I think they're going to be much more relevant in the league.
But it hasn't really stimulated a whole lot of college football playoff talk around here. But next week, if the Thunder are out, we'll be talking about it.
Yeah, for sure. Is there any hint that Bedlam could return? Scheduling is a complicated thing, I know. There's a new president down there at the school. I'd love to see the game. They're playing basketball. They're playing some baseball. People want that football game. Any thought that that could come back at any point?
I don't think so. OU's got a new athletic director, and Roger Denny hasn't really spoken a lot on the topic. Alabama just dropped OSU in 29-30, and OSU already had that game filled with Michigan State. I mean, it's going to be seven, eight years before they could possibly play. They'll play again. I mean, I don't think it's because of hard feelings.
I think it's legit because of what both of these teams have committed to on schedules. And then, hey, Lebo, you never know. I mean, I don't know what next year's SEC meeting, they may be talking about succession for the rest of college football. So, you know, who knows? I mean, it's changing until they get some rules in place.
Apparently, they're still having the college softball World Series down there, even because Oklahoma didn't make it. Thrilling games yesterday, honestly. I watched a little bit of most of them. What's the feel, though, with the Sooners not there, and who do you think is going to win this thing?

Chapter 3: What are the highlights from KU Baseball's historic season?
I will tell you this. People still love Target Field. People go down there and watch the game. Now, do they go downtown, watch the game, and then go see a show or hang out and bar hop for the remainder of the evening? The answer these days, specifically Minneapolis, is no. It's a destination. People are going in. They're still loving the stadium.
And they're still loving all the new foods and appreciating the experience of live baseball. But I will tell you at this point, it has not been a revival of a downtown scene that has spent the last five or six years, maybe even more, to be honest with you, in decay. So it's something where they're loving the game. It's not necessarily creating a vibrance around it.
And that's a combination probably of many factors, maybe sports and otherwise involved. and in combination with the team that just hasn't been very good.
Yeah. Yeah, that's how it goes. Eric Norquist from KFAN up in Minnesota is our guest. Now, listen, you mentioned Vikings. You can talk about them every day. I saw this clip running around yesterday or the day before on social media about, you know, Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy, you know, different ways they've kind of talked about each other in the meeting rooms.
Did that cause a stir up in the Twin Cities? What do people think about those sound bites about a veteran working with a younger guy?
Yeah, earlier today we were talking about this. The way I see it is I see a guy in Tyler Murray who believes that this whole idea, if he's even been made privy to it, the idea of a competition is blatantly preposterous. That's how I see Tyler Murray portraying and comporting himself in Egan right now at the team facility. On the other end of it, I see a guy in J.J.
McCarthy who is simultaneously proud of maybe some work that he did in the offseason. If we're judging teams on how they look in May, holy cats, J.J. McCarthy. But, of course, they're in shorts and they're throwing to nobody. So the mechanics may be a little bit better, the footwork better. My point is there is it's a combination of he wants this to be a competition.
He needs to believe it's a competition. And I think there's a little bit of resentment there. And he made the classroom comment, he's on one side, I'm on the other, and it's the coach's job to teach us. I see right now a guy that really sees the writing on the wall, but he needs to believe that there's an opportunity for him to overcome this and win that job in late August.
And then I see a guy that rolls in thinking, This is just a tryout for the $50 million a year I'm going to get in my next contract, so I'm ready to rock. It's a very interesting dynamic, and as I said, we could spend nine segment shows that we have up here, a three-hour show. We could spend all nine of them talking about it, and the listeners would love it.

Chapter 4: What changes are expected for the Minnesota Timberwolves this summer?
That's the stuff I've seen. But I'll have to report back to you later in the weekend. We imagine it'll be an amazing atmosphere tomorrow night if that's the opponent. They've got to get by a good Missouri State team first. But Arkansas saving beats their ace for tomorrow's game. So the 5 o'clock.
winners bracket game whoever it is is going to be a big time atmosphere and obviously high stakes and for those not familiar with college baseball in a regional setting with four teams if you win your first two games you're in the catbird seat and everybody else has to burn their pitching to fight their way back up from the bottom side of the bracket so tomorrow Today was a historic day.
Tomorrow becomes one of the biggest games in the history of Kansas baseball. Certainly they made a run to Omaha in 1993. Nothing tops that until you get to Omaha. But tomorrow is certainly the biggest home game in school history and has a chance to be a springboard to a historic run that might include something similar to those Dave Bingham teams of the early 1990s.
Yeah, for sure. It's going to be on Sports Radio 8, 10 tomorrow, 5 o'clock, whoever they end up playing. And the good news for Kansas today was Vogel went seven, and you only had to use one other pitcher besides that. So what's the plan tomorrow with the pitching staff?
So tomorrow, Mason Cook will be the starting pitcher, and if you've watched us down the stretch of the season, he's been their clear number two guy, and yet he's pitched like a co-ace.
He, out in Provo a couple of weeks ago when we clinched our first Big 12 championship ever and first conference championship in 77 years, believe it or not, he had a no-hitter into the seventh inning and it just ran out of gas at that point.
He then came back last week in surprise in the semifinal game against one of the best offenses in America, the number two home run hitting team in the country, Oklahoma State, and gives up just one run in nearly six full innings with seven Ks. He was terrific. So Bagley's the star. He's the guy that's going to be a top three round draft pick and today set the single season strikeouts record.
But Cook has pitched like a 1B option behind your 1A ace. And if we get that version of him tomorrow, the Jayhawks have a tremendous chance.
