We will get into it with David Leske coming up here shortly. He'll join us in our next segment. First, though, it's time to give you the things you need to know.

Let's start with the very latest on what we know about the Kansas City Chiefs schedule. We can confirm that the Chiefs and Broncos will open on Monday Night Football here in Kansas City.
Chapter 2: How does David Lesky analyze the Royals' recent performance?
We can also confirm through multiple sources. We like these. These are confirmed on the Dolphins. Let's see, the Dolphins won. No, that's not really. So I'll go with two. Jordan Schultz has reported that on week seven, Chiefs at Seattle. I was told by some folks that that'll be a Sunday night game. We'll see if that ends up being the case on that. And Jordan Schultz also reporting that week 12,
Thanksgiving night, Chiefs at Bills, the late game, that that will be there on November 29th. Multiple Twitter echoes. Most of these, you know, the kind of Twitter follows that are pretty good at what they do, but I have not been able to confirm it, so I won't say it as a fact. But the rumors are, and they seem to be commonplace amongst a number of people,
Chapter 3: What challenges is Seth Lugo facing this season?
The common perception is week two will be Chiefs home for Sunday night football against the Indianapolis Colts. Week three, Chiefs at Miami. Week four, Chiefs at Vegas. Week six, the Chiefs host the Chargers. Then comes that game at Seattle in Week 7. Week 8, Chiefs at Denver on November 1st. Jump to Week 12. That's that Chiefs game against the Bills on Thanksgiving evening.
Followed up by another Thursday game on December 3rd at the Rams. Then December 13th, the Sunday game at the Bengals. December 21, home on Monday Night Football to face the Patriots. December 27, a Sunday game against the San Francisco 49ers, leaving holes in the schedule for week 5, 9, 10, 11, 17, and 18. Either 5, 9, 10, or 11 would be their bye week.
And if that's accurate, what a buzzsaw five weeks at Buffalo, at the Rams, at Cincy, who's going to be better, and home games against the Pats and 49ers. Strap it on for that stretch.
I will say that I believe the 49ers are traveling 38,000 miles or 34,000 miles. I know it's 4,000 miles than anybody else this year, so get late in the season.
That could be a rough deal.
Maybe they're worn out and on fumes. Their drafts haven't been very good the last couple of years. I know they've got big names up at the top, but they're getting older. Is Trent Williams still going to be playing? At that point, they're now carrying a little bit more expenses. The real weight of Brock Purdy's contract hasn't really started to lean on them yet.
49ers are a candidate, and they also played the easiest schedule in football. Them, along with the Bills and the Patriots. Those were the three teams that had really... The Bills had an easy schedule relative to the other playoff contenders. The Patriots and 49ers, I think, tied or were 1-2 in easiest schedule last year. The 49ers might not be quite the beast.
And they've done that a couple times in that little run in between Super Bowls. They had some years where they were not particularly good.
So we'll see if we get more. And, of course, we'll have more on that starting at... 6 o'clock. 6 o'clock, where Michael Darcy and Kyle Collier will be handling our Chiefs schedule release show tonight.

Chapter 4: How has the Royals' lineup changed against left-handed pitchers?
Third consecutive game. Seth Lugo, not at his best. Matt Quattrero was asked what he thought about Lugo's outing.
Overall, the pitch count got up quickly. You know, they made him work, you know, a couple walks in there, especially that came back to haunt us a little bit, but competed well. You know, I thought he mixed well. He just wasn't quite as sharp.
It's been the case for him over the last couple of starts, just the longer innings, longer at-bats. Is there something that you are seeing that's different with him?
No, I don't think so. I mean, they battled him both of these last games with a lot of foul balls. They put some pretty good swings on it, and he competed well to keep us in the game.
Competed well to keep us in the game.
You give her that explanation? Not entirely. Okay. I mean, it competed well to keep him in the game. It's something you say after a guy goes six and you're six plus and gives up. But not that short on adding.
We'll talk more about this when we bring in David Leske here in a little bit, but I think a couple of the things that jump out as far as the Seth Lugo performance, just that last year he had a stretch kind of like this, and it came around.

Chapter 5: What factors are contributing to the Royals' struggles against the White Sox?
He eventually got things going. But if you look at kind of where some of the advanced numbers are, his ERA, first of all, is still 376. That's not that bad. It's that you're paying them $23 million that people will get a little bit excited about it. Would you agree that that's why the frustration jumps up in there?
I think it's a combination of that and the recent trend. Three of the last four starts have been kind of rocky.
Average fastball velocity just one-tenth of a mile per hour off from last year. A couple things that we were looking at earlier today that we thought maybe was a reason to feel like things will get going in the right direction. Batting average on balls in play. Last year they had a .268 against them. This year they're hitting .357.
which would mean that there should be some regression back, that he's somewhat they're hitting into good luck against him. And then the Fielding Independent Pitching says that he's actually pitching better. Last year, he had a 415 ERA with a FIP of 509, which meant that he was fortunate. This year, he's got the 376 ERA with a FIP of 269. Yeah. So...
you would think that ERA should start matching up with the fielding independent pitching a little bit more. I would think so.

Chapter 6: What is the impact of player trades on the Royals' future?
Last year, lucky. This year, unlucky. Maybe a reason to believe that it will get better for Seth Lugo, even if he just keeps doing exactly what he's doing, right?
Even if he rolls what he is to this point, you know, the 3-7-6 right now is ā is lower than what the recent trend is. If he just becomes what those numbers say he is for the rest of the year, I'll take that. All right.
Offensively, they fight back, but not enough as they lose 6-5. Quintero was asked about the at-bats they had with men on base, starting with Sal Perez's three-pitch strikeout following two walks.
He made some good pitches on him in that at-bat from where I was sitting. I thought he pitched him tough in that. And the last pitch was a pretty good changeup.
And then the seventh inning, too, you guys get two on, and the bottom lineup turns over. But then, you know, strikes out the next three.
Yeah.
Yeah, and again, he's throwing 99 with a good sweeper. The two guys that got on were lefties, and then the next three were righties, so it's a completely different circumstance. He made some good pitches there.
I think all that's accurate, and they did score five runs. They didn't score one. This wasn't a 2-1 loss. This wasn't like early on where they were scoring no runs. They hung five runs on the board, but we know Salvador Perez has been an issue.
Yep.

Chapter 7: How do injuries affect the Royals' pitching depth?
His batting average? His OPS is actually a little higher against left-handed pitchers in his career than it is against righties. Most of that was last year. But he has 140, 150-point difference this year. And to me, it isn't whether he's righty, lefty, or better. his versus lefty against Lane Thomas versus lefty this year, and that's a massive gap.
So the fact that he actually has a higher OPS against lefties and righties is not a reason to have him in there against lefties when you have a guy who's much better at lefties than he is.
Yeah, and I think the other thing to keep in mind is, you know, Those numbers are while they protected him against the best lefties.
Yes. If he's better against lefties and righties, maybe it's because they've got him against the right guys. Maybe it's because they know what they're doing. Yes. They're not throwing him against guys like Chris Sale or pitchers of that nature.
Um... Yeah, so we'll see left-hander again tonight. You have the lineup. Is that out yet? I'm sure it is. With the lineup, we'll compare it to what we had last night. Because Kay's a lefty. I'm correct about that, right, Anthony Kay? We'll go for the Chicago White Sox. So this time around, what do we got? So we'll go one at a time.
Garcia. Same. Witt. Same. Thomas. Same. Perez. Same. Lofton. Same. Pasquantino. Same. Marte. Same. Collins.

Chapter 8: What are the prospects for the Royals as the season progresses?
Yep. Isbell.
In center. Oh, so Salve's catching.
Yes.
And then Isbell's in for Diaz.
Yeah.
That's the switch here. Yeah. Isbell in for Diaz. So Cotrero heard you, Twitter bitchers. And he did nothing. He said no. So you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to put Kyle Isbell in. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Yes, if you're a pipe kind of person. If you do happen to smoke a pipe. Yeah, if you don't, I would advise you to do something different.
Kylie McDaniel's mock draft is out. Number six pick, Kansas City Royals. Eric Booth, junior center fielder from Oak Grove High School in Mississippi.
People said Oak Grove.
