We'll hear from Matt Cotrero in a minute. But sad news breaking just really in the last few minutes. About 10, 12, this story posted 14 minutes ago. NASCAR icon Kyle Busch dies at age 41. Two-time cup champion.
He said earlier Thursday, NASCAR said Bush was hospitalized as a result of a severe illness. Earlier today, they were basically saying he's not going to race because he's ill and he's in the hospital, and so he won't be racing this weekend. And now here we sit. Seven hours later. Seven hours later, and he has passed.
On behalf of the Bush family, everyone at Richard Childress Racing, and all of NASCAR, we are devastated to announce the sudden and tragic passing of Kyle Busch. Our entire NASCAR family is heartbroken by the loss of Kyle Busch, a future Hall of Famer. Kyle was a rare talent, one who comes along once in a generation.
He was fierce, he was passionate, he was immensely skilled, and he cared deeply about the sport and fans.
No mention of what the illness was, but it's just amazing that seven hours ago it was like, well, he's in the hospital with an illness and he won't be racing this weekend. And 5 o'clock, he's gone. I mean, that is... A giant.
Yeah, that is... unbelievable 63 race wins yes um and uh one of the you know one of the guys that really brought a lot of personality to nascar because he was really a guy you know all drivers have their fan base but he was a guy that people love to hate yep and he was unapologetic uh and they talk about being a fierce competitor he would he would he'd put a guy on the wall and um

Chapter 2: What devastating news about NASCAR is discussed?
you know go punch a guy after the race i mean that kind of stuff i'm not promoting it but but that's the kind of racer he was but winner he was he was a i mean the same thing the same things they say about him were said about dale earnhardt years ago yeah and that's the kind of guy he was the kind of racer he was man 41 years old 41 just watching him last weekend yeah 41 didn't see it seemed old
When I was 25, now you realize how young 41 is. Man, that's just awful.
Yeah. All right. More details as they come. As we get them, we'll put them out there, but we'll maybe find out what the illness is. On down the road, but yeah, that's tough, man, 41 years old. They just did a story on him on one of the NASCAR pregames, talking about his relationship with his wife and how close they are and everything. That's a young family. That's tough.
Chapter 3: How did Kyle Busch's passing impact the NASCAR community?
41 years old, so yeah. See if we get more details on down the road. All right, let's talk Royals baseball. Another disappointing result for the Royals. Frustrating night. Matt Cottero said his team feels bad in every way.
Yeah, it was extremely disappointing, frustrating, anger. You know, I mean, any of the negative emotions you want to talk about. I mean, it's unfortunate that that's the way it ended up because the guys played their hearts out. It's...
exceptionally disappointing yes every negative emotion you can think of uh we feel it so i could i could imagine so yeah um all right cotrero asked uh what the off day is going to be like i mean hopefully we flush the emotional part of it and come back out and just
make it as clean a work day and the competition aspect of it is what we have to concentrate on because it doesn't do us any good to focus on the frustrations of tonight or this week. It's, it's gotta be moving forward because that's, that's all you can do.
Yeah.
I mean, there's, it's, there's nothing that's going to come out of his mouth that people are like, Oh, that's great. That's a great statement. No, I'm thrilled to hear that. There's just nothing he's going to say right now that's going to make anything feel better. They're not winning games, and it's a problem. All right, what's next? Matt Cotero has asked what they'll focus on now.
You're going to play a good team coming in on Friday, and we've got to play well. And that's been a challenge for us to put it all together, obviously. And, you know, obviously there's a tremendous amount of pride in what we do and how we do it and how they compete and how we work.
And when you don't get the results, it's frustrating because that's what you're measured on and feeling a tremendous amount of responsibility to get things going in the right direction.
You don't seem like a flip the table over guy and ran the rave, which is the even steady part that's helped you here these few years you've been here. But do you ever get to that point where you gotta do something out of character to get things going?

Chapter 4: What are the current challenges facing the Royals?
Pretty heavy favorite. Curtis would love to see Montreal and Colorado. We will undoubtedly get Carolina and Vegas. That's what it's going to be. We'll take a break. We will get David Lesky in the program. I like that. Yes, from inside the crown. His great work. If you're a Chiefs fan, make sure you check it out. We'll take a break. Come back, talk Royals baseball with David Lesky next.
Yes, let's talk some Royals baseball with David Leske from Inside the Crown. He joins us here in the program. How are you, David?
The Royals can't lose today. Hang on, let's try it with the mic on. How are you, David? The Royals cannot lose today. That is right. It's a better day than most of the last week.
I choose to view it as if they had a doubleheader today and they split.
Why not, right? Give them a win. Yeah, that's fine. We'll take it. And that puts us two games closer to the end of a miserable season. Oh, damn. No. Well, it could get better.
It could. It won't. Well, I'm of the opinion last night was it for me. Being swept by a Red Sox team, that was a half game behind you. At home, where you had been playing better baseball, as we talked about before they came home, they were 13-10, I think, at home, and Seven and 17 on the road. So it was like, OK, that was rough out there. But now you're coming back home where you're good.
So start taking two out of threes here. Let's let's get at least five and four out of this nine game homestand. And you drop the first three. I mean, I just I don't. The answer does not lie. In that clubhouse this year, in my opinion.
Yeah. It's hard to think that it does. And they've had some issues that are out of their control, right? Like they've lost their number one starter. They've lost their three. What did you call it? What's the three? Four, two, you know, somewhere in there.
I mean, before the year started, I mean, the way I would describe Reagans and Bubich are their two highest upside guys.
