Economists were shocked when Statistics NZ recently released data showing that the rate of inflation has fallen to 6.7%, down from 7.2%. We go through the numbers to show the impact on interest rates and what it all means for property investors, homeowners and mortgage borrowers. We also talk about why the number might not be as good as it first seems – and go through the differences between tradeable (imported) and non-tradable (domestic) inflation.
