Fear is a natural and biological response to stressful events. Contrary to popular notion, feeling afraid can be very helpful. It can protect us from danger and ensure our survival. However, we sometimes fall into the rabbit hole of fixating on our unhealthy fears. It reels us into a dark space and hinders us from seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. There are only useful and unuseful ways toward our goals. ●We define our goals in life. ●Not all fears are unhealthy. Fear is a part of our physiology and has a purpose. ●Since yoga and meditation did not get to the roots of her fears, Katie spent five years understanding how the nervous system functions and unraveling trauma from it. The Trauma and Healing Vortex ●The trauma vortex reels you into a dark space when you are about to see the light. ●The healing vortex allows us to feel safe and at ease. It happens when the body receives information through the 16 proprioceptive senses. ●Mass media keeps us in the trauma vortex. It shuts down our prefrontal cortex, preventing us from taking in new information. ●Feed yourself information that conveys truth. Fear Porn ●Having an unhealthy relationship with our phones leads us to live in a state of fear. ●We sometimes try to outdo the tragic situation of another person. Rosie calls this “tragedy porn.” ●Mass media made us desensitized and overstimulated in all facets of our lives. Satiate Your Ancestors ●Satiate yourself by satiating your ancestors. ●Our circumstances are not unique to us. It’s a seven-generation experience that wasn't realized. But it has also hyperpolarized us to the point where we’re afraid of speaking. Othering ●Othering is the first sign that you entered the trauma vortex. It refers to separating yourself from others. ●Listen and sit down with people to end this destructive practice. ●The moment we commit othering, we start to build walls between ourselves and others. Toxic Positivity ●We focus on trauma rather than healing. This frame of mind was helpful to our ancestors in the wild, but it doesn’t help us now. ●Real love and light can hold an infinite amount of trauma. They will not repress negative emotions, but they will not linger long enough into them. ●Some lash out at others or deny feeling the pain during adversities. Creating Boundaries on Mass Media ●We easily get scared of things that disturb our minds. ●Decide what you want your life to be. ●If you’re a lightworker, take care of what you put into your body. Look after your physical, mental, and emotional being. ●Protect the light you’ve been cultivating.
