41.554 - 45.778 Unknown

I'm not going to do any poor accents, but make sure you follow. Make sure you subscribe. Lock in.

0

46.179 - 46.879 Charles Holmes

Your parents didn't like it.

0

47.28 - 66.28 Unknown

No, my parents are fine with the accent. It's the British one that I'm having trouble with. People aren't really messing with it, which I understand. You know what? I didn't even want to bring this up, talking about the people. I love the people, the Midnight Riders, the Midnight Mob. Guys, they're working on the fucking room, okay? We got new, we got some new studios in fucking Hollywood.

0

66.3 - 67.041 Steve Ahlman

It's in process.

67.102 - 77.841 Unknown

The fucking permits aren't here yet. Like, motherfuckers need to shut up. We saw the small table shit. It's every day. Every week. It's like we're getting smaller every week. You know what I mean? Like, trust the process.

79.204 - 83.211 Charles Holmes

But just, this is the last time we're saying it. We're getting a new studio.

83.191 - 84.053 Steve Ahlman

This is not it.

84.454 - 86.178 Charles Holmes

We're getting it. We're getting a new studio.

Chapter 4: How does Dunk's character develop throughout the episode?

1311.095 - 1328.232 Unknown

Like, that type of kindness, we don't really see. Like, we see it in pockets of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, but through two episodes, for that to be the prevailing theme, I think that's, like, the success of the show and why the show is going to, like, as we go forward, I want to see that motif and how it grows because I'm, like, really...

0

1328.212 - 1336.406 Unknown

It's crazy to watch a Game of Thrones episode and be like, man, that was great, man. The vibes aren't ruined. I feel great. That doesn't happen.

0

1337.307 - 1345.06 Charles Holmes

How do you guys feel like they handled... This is the first show that we've gotten. It's only the second show, but it's the first show we've gotten where we've gotten some action. How do you guys feel like they handled the action in the show?

0

1345.08 - 1373.326 Unknown

I loved it. I actually, once again... something like the tug of war scene is not an action scene, but it says so much about the characters that it feels like a way. Same thing when it's like at the end of the episode, when Dunk and Egg are having this moment where they're like, they're in awe of the joust. But it's also dawning on both of them how much farther they have to go in their journey.

0

1374.388 - 1392.6 Unknown

I think it's a very, very good lesson for anybody who makes this type of content, this fantasy content, to be like, oh, the battles don't have to have a thousand people and CGI and monsters and all this shit. Sometimes it just needs to be rooted in what does this character want and how hard is it going to be for them to get it.

1392.62 - 1415.509 Steve Ahlman

Yeah. It's not even overly bloody like nobody like loses a head or like you don't see guts flying because I remember the first episode of House of the Dragon like that tourney was brutal and terrible and horrifying and this was just like very chaotic like a bunch of people flying around and Dunk just observing it and thinking about the enormity of the task that he has signed up for.

1415.489 - 1422.865 Unknown

Like, those are real, like, nights. Those are guys who have been doing this forever. He's like, ah, this is my first time. I don't know if I got it like that.

1423.045 - 1448.436 Charles Holmes

But even to show that he's slightly intimidated, like, he almost has a panic attack, right? Yeah. He wants so much. And... To examine want in this, like, do you want it that bad? Are you willing to go through all of this? You guys, just for, not glory, but for identity. See, it might seem as if the character is chasing glory. He wants to be the biggest, baddest knight around.

1448.696 - 1458.085 Charles Holmes

It's actually not true. He just wants to be a knight at all. Like, my psychiatrist who told me that, not my psychiatrist, my therapist who told me that I'm a sociopath, did I tell you guys this?

Chapter 5: What role does Egg play in Dunk's journey?

1539.176 - 1556.921 Charles Holmes

And the nugget was about identity. He said, as it relates to identity, he goes, a lot of people want stuff. But the reason why they don't attain it is because they don't see themselves as a thing that they want. Right. And he was like, when you were in great shape all throughout your 30s, like, how did you maintain it? Right.

0

1557.362 - 1575.979 Charles Holmes

And I was like, I maintained it because there would be stuff in front of me. I wouldn't eat it. I wouldn't touch it. But I ran three miles a day. I played enough basketball. I did all of that stuff. He goes, because you saw yourself. and conducted yourself as a version of you that you wanted to be. So it was part of your identity to eat a certain way.

0

1576.059 - 1597.12 Charles Holmes

It was part of your identity to work out a certain way. He was like, anything that you want, it has to be a part of your identity to be that. And then you won't have problems with discipline because it'll be who you are. And when I was watching this show, I'm thinking, this is a show about two people trying to establish identity, trying to establish the identity of a knight.

0

1597.742 - 1599.586 Charles Holmes

Why don't they believe that they can be a knight?

0

Chapter 6: How do the character dynamics between Dunk and Egg evolve?

1599.907 - 1622.042 Charles Holmes

Well, the kid thinks he's too small. He's too small, doesn't think that he can be a knight because he's too wimpy, he's small for his age. The grown ass man has not been birthed into knighthood in the way that most people are. He has to go at it a different way. How do they assert who they actually are and how do they help each other do that? And this world around them,

0

1622.022 - 1642.684 Charles Holmes

Does the Game of Thrones world have the ability to take someone with dreams, with goals, and make them into who they actually want to be? How many times have we actually seen that in Game of Thrones? We haven't really. We haven't really seen it. We've met fully formed characters and watched them battle with their identities, their identities battle against each other.

0

1642.805 - 1656.543 Charles Holmes

It's really awesome watching someone who... has a very human, how am I saying this? Who has human ambitions that we can all relate to and trying to see if this world can nurture that.

0

1656.563 - 1675.673 Steve Ahlman

I mean, because his goals are completely against every, most characters that we've ever seen in Game of Thrones. Like he doesn't want power. He doesn't want accolades or glory or anything like that. He wants to be what he believes is a decent person and a good glorified person. And that's the person that raised him. to be a knight.

0

1676.114 - 1692.867 Steve Ahlman

And if he can embody and achieve those things in the material, because that's the things that he... Everything is an obstacle to get to that point. Okay, I don't need the title. There weren't any witnesses to my knighting. There weren't any actual written documents that I had to do it. I have to make my own sigil. I have to do all of these things.

1693.775 - 1715.44 Charles Holmes

Making the sigil, though. It's his own thing. Establishing who you are. Exactly. Like, making the sigil. What would your sigil look like? If you had to have a sigil, everybody go through and, like, tell us right now. Because think about it. Making your own sigil is establishing who you actually are. Baylor tells him, hey... That's not your father. Doesn't matter.

1716.081 - 1720.391 Charles Holmes

You can't ride around with his sigil. You got to make your own sigil.

1720.431 - 1731.733 Unknown

But it's also so funny that Baylor is just like, Dunk finally thought he got everything. He's like, man, I'm going to be in this. And the hardest thing that he has to think of is like, all right, You need your own sigil. And he has no idea.

1731.753 - 1758.088 Charles Holmes

And he has to define himself. Yeah. And Egg helps him. Yes. Like, Egg helps him define himself just in the little time that they've known each other. Let's think about your life and how you are and the things that you do and what you would put on this thing that's going to live beyond you. That sigil is a picture, but it's also like a headstone as well. And the episode starts with...

Chapter 7: What themes of kindness and humanity are explored in this episode?

1890.726 - 1897.898 Charles Holmes

Hold on. So like, okay, when I think of Jomie, I think chef, Nigerian, white woman.

0

1898.502 - 1899.825 Unknown

That can't be true.

0

1900.025 - 1900.767 Charles Holmes

That's what I think about.

0

1900.787 - 1905.577 Unknown

Wait, wait, a fair maiden, a fair white maiden with a bowl of jollof rice.

0

1905.737 - 1932.947 Charles Holmes

Oh, like a, like a, okay. Like Hailee Steinfeld. Yes! Hailee Steinfeld with a bowl of jollof rice. It's funny. Okay. But she's standing, she's in the Nigerian flag colors. Oh. But, okay, but we don't make the Nigerian flag colors like the actual flag. We make like a, so what are the colors again? Green and white. Okay, so green and white. So like the chef's hat is really, really white. Okay.

1932.987 - 1942.101 Charles Holmes

Super white. And that kind of gives you the feeling of the Nigerian color. But behind the chef's hat, she's like right next to a gigantic like green pond.

1942.382 - 1942.482 Unknown

Yeah.

1942.462 - 1971.54 Charles Holmes

and like you know what I mean she's like a fair maiden so she's got the and you get the Nigerian coming from it alright what's in the sky for Jomi what's in the sky what's in the sky you need something in the sky for the sigil oh you're making this okay because I'm thinking like a normal night sigil where it's like usually like four symbols to exemplify nah we're doing it like what we would put on Jomi's shield what's in the sky for Jomi trying to think anybody can chime in Alea anyone I feel like Jomi you got an idea for oh you know what

1971.959 - 1980.551 Unknown

I just think his sky needs to be the color of Blue Lagoon. Okay. Because I will always remember. Oh, the Blue Lagoon to the face.

Chapter 8: How does the episode compare to previous 'Game of Thrones' narratives?

2265.282 - 2274.434 Charles Holmes

I said no lotion. What lubricant are you using? Three parts coconut oil, one part olive oil. Okay. Let's just move on.

0

2276.998 - 2278.8 Van Lathan

Let's just move on. Let's just move on.

0

2278.78 - 2287.311 Jomi Adeniran

No, that's what he's making. He's making the coconut oil.

0

2287.712 - 2302.712 Charles Holmes

All I'm saying is if you don't treat yourself right, nobody will. Are you warming the lubricant up? I'm just telling you guys right now, we don't want to make this whole podcast about this. We have a great, wholesome game.

0

2302.692 - 2304.496 Jomi Adeniran

Do you have a Nazi shop, Ben?

2304.516 - 2305.397 Unknown

Can I get this?

2305.417 - 2306.399 Charles Holmes

We're a great wholesome thing.

2306.419 - 2307.301 Jomi Adeniran

He can send you the ingredients.

2307.321 - 2319.165 Charles Holmes

He can make it. Yeah, great wholesome thing. Oh, my God. All right, so we met. Okay, every episode, let's talk about the new characters that we met. So we met. We talked a little bit about Sir Baylor. Talked a little bit about Sir Baylor.
