This event was a tribute to the important legacy of Caroline Walsh, literary editor of the Irish Times and a valued member of the academy’s committee for literatures in English. This lecture will consider the role of the literary reviewer as a gatekeeper or arbiter within literary culture and on the vital influence of reviewing for the success of the contemporary writer.
