Jakob Dobr stole that one, huh?
I think it's fair to say he did it. He came through and he needed to. And, I mean, he came through from the start of the series right to the end of it, but definitely in Game 7.
What a performance. It reminded me a lot of Halak in 2010 versus the Capitals. Game 7, where the Canadians were outshot, I think, 42-16. 42 to 16. And I think Sportsnet actually had a stat last night. I mean, the only two times that a team has been outshot by 20 plus shots in game seven was actually, those are the last, the last time that it happened since last night was back in 2010 versus the Capitals.
Yeah. Listen, I'm not going to defend the Canadians performance. I didn't, if it, i wouldn't say that it was a terrible performance but it was definitely their worst one of the series in the game that was most important and they needed their goaltender to step up that said like the shots got to 18-4 and after that there was some good scoring chances within there um the canadians give up a whole lot after that they didn't generate anything uh until you know suzuki finally got a shot on net and anderson's line with was a caulfield and evans like flipped the the momentum a little bit and next thing you know new hook is flying around the net and smacking a puck out of midair and off vasilevsky's backing in and i was thinking it like i i have to think a lot of people were thinking it that
Here's Andre Vasilevsky coming off the best performance of a year in which he's been nominated for the Vezina in game six. And he's sitting ice cold at one end of the rink while his team can't seem to score on any of its chances. And you just knew that one, two, three shots later... something like that could happen to him. And sure enough, that it happened to him from behind his own net was a really bad omen for Tampa. And I bet they felt it in the moment, no matter what they were trying to tell themselves. It was crazy. I mean, that was a crazy way to end that game and that series.
I think John Cooper said it best last night, right? The hockey gods were not with Tampa last night. And it's funny because at one point the Canadians go, they're about to ice a puck, but it hits a broken stick. So it just lays there and they don't ice it. Another time it gets caught up in, I don't know, some snow and some ice.
