Michael Bosstick 0:31
You know, we've done this show for a long time. We're really into these kind of topics. We're gonna get all into cellular aging. We're into all of the things, the fringe things. We've tried all the you know, we we we're always experimenting, trying taking care of ourselves, supplementing all the stuff that that we all like. And I say that because I was the other day, I was Sometimes I'll smoke a cigar and sometimes I'll have some alcohol. And this woman
Lauryn Bosstick 0:52
Sometimes you'll smoke a cigarette.
Michael Bosstick 0:54
So this woman wrote into me and she's like, How could you be doing these things? And I was like, listen. I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa. I was like, sometimes I drink, sometimes I enjoy a cigar, and sometimes I stay up past my bedtime. Like, let's not get confused about like me enjoying sex drugs and rock and roll. But I but I think that people think like You know, like th this wellness community's gotten so far into like the pockets of like peptides and wellness and sober li it's fine, do your thing. But like Mm my message is It's it could be an eighty twenty, right? Like you can you can sometimes let loose a little bit and you'll be fine if you're doing the consistent things most of the time.
Dr. Will Cole 1:30
The consistent foundation matters the most. I will say most there's a a certain percentage of people that the eighty twenty doesn't work when they're looking to heal. Of course. But like if you're an averagely health healthy person, yeah, you have to find what that wiggle room and resilience that your body has and there's so much bio individuality.
Michael Bosstick 1:48
Yeah, I mean like personally, like Lauren and I are in the gym four to five days a week. We're doing all the we do all the things that we talk about on the show, and then once in a while we'll go out with some friends and let loose. I think the reason being is like we do all the things that we all discuss so that we can also do the other things. But I would be very bored if it was just all the stuff. Okay. Yeah. Let's let's wrap up. How wait, how long have you guys had the show? What year did you start it? March of two thousand sixteen. Okay.

Talk to us about Brain Fox.
Dr. Will Cole 2:40
I'm talking about in the new book called Heal Yoursells that I wrote with my friend and colleague, Dr. Josh Axe, who's been on the pod before, on your pod before. Um, it we have an epidemic of cellular dysregulation going on. And one of the Hallmark studies that we talk about in the book was a Stanford study was published in 2023. They found one in five Americans over the age of 50 have at least one organ aging more rapidly than the rest of their body. This uneven aging. And if the brain cells were aging more rapidly, they were at 80% increased risk of some neurodegenerative issues, like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's. If their heart cells were aging more rapidly, they were at over a 200% increased risk of heart attack, stroke, heart failure.
Dr. Will Cole 3:20
And they look at 11 different organs. They look at the liver, they look at many different things.
