This time he's not getting roasted for what he cooked. He's getting roasted for something he did in the preparation that has not just it has sullied his name beyond repair. So we're getting into that.
And then we have what some people would say some niche internet drama, but it's not niche if you're us. Yes. Basically, a very famous podcast in the US with a huge huge following have been called out by a very famous writer and a very famous name in pop culture. If you don't know who they are, it's fine because we're gonna take you through it all, but it's opened up this huge conversation that we're gonna get into. We have a lot of thoughts on. I do have some news. I reckon this counts as like quite sad-ish. Oh no. So Variety has come out and said that it's possible that the second Barbie movie that we were all very excited for that was coming might be in turmoil. Yes. Here's what happened. So there was plans to do a big sequel to the blockbuster film Barbie that came out in 2023. It was Everywhere. It made over $1.4 billion in the box office. A huge, huge deal. It made Greta Gerwig the number one female director ever. It was amazing. So obviously when something's that big, the production company is like, yes, let's throw money at it. Let's make a sequel. Is going up against the core four creative team of Barbie, which includes Noah Bornback, who is a co-writer and a huge famous American filmmaker, Greta Gerwig, the um also the other co-writer plus the director of the film, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. These are the four. What happened was when Waterbros made the first Barbie film, they didn't lock in contracts with the Actors for the second Barbie film and the core creative team. So that's given this team leverage to be like, we know how successful the first movie was, we want more money. I think it's been reported that Ryan Gosling himself is demanding twenty million dollars. Twenty

Exactly. And that's not even taking into consideration all the money they would get from the box office dividends and profits, which would be huge.
The issue is, is that there this has been a back and forth ongoing now where um Warner Bros. is putting money at them, they're saying no more. Warner Bros. is like more money, and they're saying no more. And now it's come to a complete standstill because if they don't get this sorted within the next four months, the rights of Barbie goes back to Mattel, and then Mattel can take all of this, can take back. the brand and reboot the whole movie themselves.
It's the craziest time crunch. And why it matters so much is that Mattel, um, from what we know didn't want to sort of just give the rights to Barbie for a movie to anyone. And Margot Robbie, because it was her production company that spearheaded the whole thing, she has talked about going to Mattel and promising them like how much they respect the brand, how it would be a positive story for Barbie.
