From Mamma Mia, welcome to The Spill, your daily pop culture fix. I'm Em Burnham. And I'm Manisha Aswaran. And today we are doing a very special weekend watch episode. So many things have come out this week. We've tried to watch as many as we can. Manisha, do you want to kick us off?
yeah huge week of tv i'm gonna start off with one that like i know you've watched this as well i find it kind of embarrassing that i watch it but in the same vein as like the summer i turned pretty like it's just a cozy kind of like a little bit of like two brothers fighting over you vibes who doesn't love that and it's the new season of my life with the walter boys season three is out now i didn't even know they were coming out with a new season i feel like
I don't know if it was season one or season two that crossed over with the summer I turned pretty, but I think I just got confused in my head with all the storylines because they were the same.
Yeah. And at the time we did a roundup episode, which I'll link in the show notes, which is about sibling love triangles and when brothers are fighting over you. But yeah, I would say this is sort of in that vein for anyone who doesn't know what it's about. It's about a girl named Jackie whose parents pass away very tragically in a car accident. And then she moves to live with her mom's best friend who has like a million children, mostly sons. They have like eight biological children. They also look after two of their nephews. That's never really explained, but the nephews just live there. And then they now have her as well. So there's like 11 children in this house. And two brothers are both interested in her.
They must be rich, rich. That's what I always think. But then they're always just like struggling on the farm. So I don't know. And one of them is doing like rodeo riding to get a scholarship for college. So I'm like, that's not, I don't know. That's very fancy. Yeah. But two of the brothers, Cole and Alex, they both interested in her. Cole is much more that like, I don't know if you'd call him a bad boy, but he's sort of like the jaded one. And then Alex is sort of the sweet one to begin with. Although I feel like Alex is becoming quite broody this season. And the new season just picks up on the cliffhanger of her and Cole basically having told each other they love each other. Alex overheard it, so he's really sad.
Obviously not over it at all. And also their dad had a heart attack and has gone to the hospital. So that was the cliffhanger of last season. So many cliffhangers. Lots going on. So it's still like the same core trio, but now she's sort of chosen Cole. I'm hoping this season is going to have less to do with the love triangle. I think we've seen enough of the love triangle, but I think it is setting up that she's chosen Cole and she's going and Alex is focusing on his rodeo riding. So, you know.
Whoa.
I've only watched the first episode, but I do think it's a good winter watch. Like it's summery and they're on a ranch and you're just kind of like, I don't know. It's the only time in my life I've been like, maybe I want eight kids and I'll live in the country on a ranch.
Oh my God, Manisha, you do not want eight kids. And I cannot picture you on a ranch. No.
But it's cute when they have brunch together and stuff.
We can have brunch. We can do that in the city. We're city girls.
