Born to parents with Portuguese, Indian and European heritage and raised in Sydney’s North Shore, Carmel has always loved performing from a young age and has spent the majority of her life to date singing, acting and dancing up a storm. In 2016, she made her first foray into the spotlight as a semi-finalist on season five of Ch 9’s The Voice where she was coached by Jessie J and the Madden Brothers. Carmel is a recent graduate of the Sydney Acting School and has also trained at the Australian Institute of Music. She also has worked closely with Sharon & Christine Muscat of Sister 2 Sister School of Singing over the last eight years as a student and more recently, a member of their teaching staff. And in what is the ultimate full circle moment, Carmel also played the role of Tracy Turnblad in her high school production of Hairspray, so is very excited to be introducing herself to audiences across Australia with a role so close to her heart!
