Manchester City return to Premier League action following the international break with what has historically been one of their most difficult tasks. While rivals Liverpool are not the force of last season, any meeting between the two teams who have dominated the title scene in recent years is a huge affair. Jurgen Klopp’s side may well be enduring a difficult time of things but beat Pep Guardiola’s men back in October and have stepped up in big games, such as beating Manchester United 7-0. City have also shown signs of fatigue somewhat, albeit not to the extent of Liverpool. The champions trail Arsenal by eight points after a slightly more inconsistent campaign than in recent years. Still, they went into the international break having put seven goals past RB Leipzig before beating Burnley 6-0 in the FA Cup.
